Default Calgary (44-20-7-95) @ Winnipeg (41-25-4-86) 5:00pm (SNP, SNW)

The Calgary Flames are in Bell MTS Place tonight in Winnipeg taking on the Jets. With a Flames win, Flames OT/SO loss, or Wild loss, the Flames will officially clinch the playoffs.

Projected starters are David Rittich for the Flames and Connor Hellebuyck for the Jets. https://leftwinglock.com/starting-goalies

The Flames have won three in a row, and look to continue their recent streak against the best in the Central Division.

The Jets are coming off a big win against the Boston Bruins and will be looking to extend their lead in the Central Division.

Team Records:
Calgary Flames 44-20-7-95
Winnipeg Jets 41-25-4-86

The game will be broadcast on SportsNet Pacific and SportsNet West, I believe these are nationally televised games so blackouts shouldn’t be a worry.

Go Flames Go

Tough one on back to back minus Monahan. This is what playoff hockey will probably look like.

It will be interesting to see what the lines look like with Monahan out, maybe give Janko a look see on the top line, like at the end of last season. Ryan looked good last night but is he good in spells rather than for a whole game??

The turtle is raring to go for this one. After the last few offensive explosions by the good guys, he is expecting another big 2 points and the playoff clincher.

I told him; don't cool your jets.

With Monahan out, I wonder if James Neal gets back into the lineup tonight.

First line of Gaudreau - Lindholm - Neal would be a good experiment while allowing the rest of the lines we've had during this win streak to stay intact

Could try Ryan up to 1C and Quine in on 4C

I'm scared to see how slow he would actually look on that line.

I’ve not heard that he’s close to returning

Nvm - turns out he’s skating at practice with a regular jersey

Is Neal even ready yet?

If not I’d leave Ryan on the first line and put Quine in on the 4th. Johnny seemed to have some chemistry with Ryan and I think Janko is probably best used where he is now.

I strongly prefer Quine at LW. I think he really struggled with driving possession at centre even more than Jankowski, but has a lot to offer on a whole.

I would like to see:
Gaudreau-Ryan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Bennett-Jankowski-Czarnik
Mangiapane-Quine-Hathaway

Just win!

In a backtoback situation.. is it worthwhile to completely switch out the D and get some fresh blood?

Take out Brodie, Fantanberg, Andersson, and Hanifin for Stone, Kylington, Valimaki, and Prout

A tough test for CGY against a good opponent, on a back to back and missing their 1C. This is where their true character has opportunity to be on display. Their depth too. Excited to see them rise above and battle through.

Not worthwhile to do that.

Darren Haynes suggested what I thought last night: bump up Janko into Monahan’s spot (and have Quine replace Janko, with more minutes to the fourth line). As much as I like Ryan, I think Janko provides more offensive upside. That allows 3M and the “4th” line to remain intact.

I'm not so sure I'd be eager to promote Jankowski, a player with 0 goals and 2 points in his last 14 games, over Ryan, a player with 4 goals and 9 points over that same 14-game span. I mean, I'm sure they'd both do at least fine, but why not promote the guy who's been doing better of late?

I’m not so sure Jankowski does have more offensive upside than Ryan though. He has a better shot, I’ll give him that, but Ryan has really shown lately that he can drive the net, and set up plays better than a typical 4th liner for sure
