huge sswing and a miss by his agent. Playing a handful of NHL games with no arb rights. There isn't a whole lot of wiggle room there.

Awesome! Glad to hear Mangiapane is back. Hopefully, he puts in the work and helps to solidify the third line this season. It'd be a huge boon for the Flames if he became kind of like what Andreas Johnsson was for the Leafs last season.

This makes me really wonder what the sticking point was from Mangiapane's camp.

It couldn't have been the 1 way - there is a very good chance he would get claimed off of waivers, and be playing somewhere else in the NHL.

It was either the dollars or the term. Perhaps the Flames wanted a 2-3 year? If so, then this was a successful holdout on his behalf. If it was dollars, then this was a waste of time for him. I wonder what we will see.

Just hope Mangiapane comes back to the team with a positive outlook. Afterall, when life gives you breadcrumbs, you make croutons out of them!

The thing is that if this was his qualifying offer, he could have signed this at any point over the last two months. It was the money issue most likely. And he had absolutely no leverage.

I believe his agent is supposed to be on 960 with Eric Francis tomorrow am. Might be interesting.

I wonder if this was all the agent’s doing and Mangiapane finally came in at the end and said to just take the QO so he could get to camp?

Sounds like his initial asking was 1M, 300k over his QO. Good on Tre for not giving in, 300k here and there adds up quickly.

Bread man gets paid... or not, it seems.

I wonder how much this has to do with the Tkachuk negotiations. Meet in the middle? Not for 88 and not for 19 either — either sign it or miss camp.

Isn't this lower than what Eric Francis said the Flames wanted, considering it's a 2-way?

Mangiapane is worth more than this, but he didn't have a lot of leverage - Tree waited his agent out, and now we're in business.

Good signing by Tree, good attempt by Mangiapane - and this will be one of the best value contracts around for this year.

Wow, that's a great deal. Mangiapne camp definitely caved, that wasn't even worth waiting

Maybe he didn't want to go through fitness tests because he's carb loaded?

Good. Tre won't be pushed around. Not that Eat Bread had any leverage anyway so I'm surprised it went this way. Do like having our GM not be bullied though.

Alan Quine and Dillon Dube are both making more; at least if all are in the NHL next year.

Bad move to hold out this long for the same offer you got initially. Hopefully lights even more of a fire under his ass, and he brings it this season to justify a big pay raise.

Might be why Mangiapane could be ok with making less. If there's a cap crunch, he's the guy who they can afford to keep up (and he's better than Quine anyway)
