I absolutely love that Smith helmet. I can’t wait til I’m old and some young goalie rocks a Kipper tribute when we bring the ‘04’s back.

I really like the matte look on goalie masks. You can see them so much better on TV.

Painted ears, eyes, and mouth are kinda creepy. Bur, hoping they create some sort of transparent aluminum so we can get clear masks.

Or something like this: for Leafs fans

I haven't been a big fan of ears painted on goalie masks, but Mike Smith's mask looked amazing on TV.

Better than in the close ups IMO.

I thought the same thing! It actually looked like he was wearing a small mask. Cool effect from 150’.

Behind the paywall, but a great article about DaveArt and how he creates the masks

‘Brush Stroke Tech’ is, hands down, my new favourite feature. Incredible.

Did he just use a brush? Or did he use a spray gun technique to create the effect a brush would? My hope is for the former.

Brush Stroke Tech.

Smith's new bucket is on a completely different level than this.
Maybe I'm way off base, but I do not like this at all.

What the hell are you talking about? It’s INFERNO HEAT! And not only that, it’s the SECOND edition!

Complete with DaveArt classic features like lens flares and BrushStroke Tech(nology?). Like not just spray gun, actual brush stroke tech!! It’s the newest paint technique since neanderthals were painting caves!

No goalie should hire DaveArt. It’s like the hipster beard of goalie masks. If you hire DaveArt you’re going to get a mask that is unoriginal, probably boring, have way too much #### going on, lightning for some reason (why do ALL of his masks have lightning??) and lens flares all over. He is Awful. And by awful I mean I feel like I could do better and I have F- art skills.

“Cradle of Creativity” is just the cherry on top though. They literally all look so similar. Cradle of Creativity, my ass.

Dunno about all that but I was just thinking the lens flares are getting pretty old and even annoying after doing it on every single mask for the longest time. It looks really nice overall but could've done without that.

Looks like Rittich switched cages from the painted to chrome.

Yeah, you would hope the masks would be amazing, coming from someone so apparently pretentious.

maybe his base mask template starts with the lens flares and lightning, and then he builds up from there.
