I have a feeling Gio will get Jarome Iginla'd for the Norris.

Left off a French ballot because he's black?

Gio for the Hart.
How good are the Flames' d corps, pp, 3on3 and without him? Good
How are those units with him? Some of the best in the league.
He makes Brodie better, which makes the second and third units better too.
Plus he's done it more consistently than anyone anticipated.
MVP.

Part of the reason why this team has launched into the next level is because of Gio’s vastly improved performance this season, regardless if he wins the Norris or not. He shouldn’t just be nominated for the Norris, he deserves Hart trophy votes too.

I'll be willing to forgive his being overlooked for other individual awards after they give him the Conn Smythe.

Through 12 November Mark Giordano was fifth among defensemen in scoring with 2 goals and 16 points in 18 games. He was behind Morgan Reilly (7-21 in 17), Thomas Chabot (5-22 in 18), Brent Burns (3-20 in 18), and John Carlson (5-18 in 15).
Since then, Giordano has 4 goals and 19 points in 14 games. He is currently the highest-scoring defensemen in the NHL.

Mark Giordano is 24th all time in short handed goals as a defenceman with 8.

Looking at today's match-up v. the Stars, I noticed that Giordano has more points (35) than anyone on their team (Seguin has the most with 30 points). Gio has more than twice as many points as their top scoring defenseman (Heiskanen has 17). Albeit, Klingberg has been injured for a long while.
It's crazy how well the Flames are doing offensively. The Flames are also the third best defensive team in GAA. Not bad.

Dellow is beating his Hamilton is better than Gio drum over on the athletic.
Quote:
Giordano’s a player who’s had a great career and is enjoying a season in which he’s getting the benefit of the percentages and opportunity that Hamilton is not. We’ll see where things sit in April – my suspicion is that the apparent gap will have narrowed considerably, although Giordano still has some structural advantages that will probably make his numbers look good.

Dallas broadcast was pumping Giordanos tires last night.
I was actually pleasantly surprised with that broadcast. Quite neutral, even during an absolute beat down. Wasn’t at all nauseating like some local Canadian crews.
