This one feels more useless. At least when protesters block a pipeline, it's obvious what their cause is. These people today stopping traffic on bridges to protest governments doing more to stop climate change? What exactly is it that they want people to do? Stop driving? Why are they blocking cyclists then? They have no clear message. This is vague, like the occupy movement that was protesting what...other people being rich?
Lots of people are concerned about climate change and the need to reduce emissions. Stopping them on a bridge, forcing them to idle their cars and be late for work is not the best way to gain support or form camaraderie.
This was just a stupid stunt to get their name out there.
Just walked by the Memorial and 10th St one. Probably 50 protestors in the intersection and a bunch of cops. Also, tons and tons of motorists honking at them. Honestly, I've seen better protests and give this one 2/10 for effectiveness.
James Brown, a partially-sighted former cyclist who won a bronze medal at the London 2012 Games, managed to get himself onto the aircraft on Thursday afternoon.
Flight delayed as activist boards plane
A flight from London City Airport was delayed on Thursday morning when an Extinction Rebellion activist boarded a plane under the guise of a passenger.
As the crew delivered their pre-flight safety demonstration, the smartly-dressed man stood up and started filming himself giving a lecture on climate change.
Fellow passengers can be heard urging him to make his point whilst sat down in order for the plane to take off.
So these morons have the gall to call us out on how irresponsible we all are regarding the environment and bring this issue to our attention by halting traffic and planes. Ok fair enough, I'm listening, now what exactly are you proposing we do to fix this? Ohhh right they dont offer any solutions whatsoever other than demanding the government fix the problem somehow. This just reeks of virtue signalling to me. They've gotta know they are likely hurting their cause a lot more than helping it.
They have no solution or scientific backing to their doomsday scenarios. Yes, there are problems that need to be solved but these people are pretty much just crazy street preachers from before the internet age. The ER lady comes out of this looking pretty silly.
Im trying to teach my kids to recycle, reuse and do what we can to do our part, but I also have to try to keep them away from these kinds of radicals.
Climate change is of course real, and we should look what we can do but that Andrew Neil video is pretty scathing to this movement. “I’m not here to give solutions...” ummmm...perhaps they need a better spokesperson.
His setup would put anyone on the defensive. He’s behind this large desk with his name on it and here the guest sits in a chair away from the desk, on their own. He’s setup like a judge. It would be very off putting.
Glad I made it to the Maldives before it disappears.

I still think they'll be onto drones to buzz and cripple airports soon.
And at this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if they start slashing people's tires in mass numbers too. I remember some vigilante slashing the tires of every single illegally parked car by the University many years ago. A couple of circuits around the underground lots at Chinook mall would get on the news pretty easily and be hard to catch.
