New favourite piece...a custom dial and back from Wilk Watchworks in Toronto. Very happy with it.

Very cool. I am not familiar with them, are they decent quality? I can't say I've ever seen a Tourbillion for so "cheap".

I checked out his site and it looks like familiar chinese movements. That's a chinese tourbillion that's usually just under $1000.
What he does is take Chinese movements and parts and customizes them and it looks like he does some CNC work to make his own dials and laser engraving as well.

Yeah, pretty much this. I've looked very closely at getting his new limited edition tourbillon... http://wilkwatchworks.com/the-numeri...mited-edition/
I got the Swiss movement in the pictured watch. I just liked that he was Canadian and you can get pretty much custom anything (and a selected 3 - 5 movements). The quality has been great so far, about 1 year into it and I wear it about 2 days/week.

I have nothing to add other than to check out Tany's Jewellery in Sunridge mall as they sell Oris and you'll get full warranty. Have dealt with the owner there and have had a great experience. Hopefully you can get it from a local brick and mortar without too much of a price variance.

I am all for supporting the local business, but it would involve driving to Sunridge, as opposed to clicking the button , and I have nothing but great experience with Costco in terms of returns and general CS...

I always check out watches when I goto Costco and I noticed that in each of the stores in Calgary, there is slightly different selection.
Also, many items are different between store on online so it doesn't hurt to visit the stores either.
I would love to support local businesses but they are so overpriced compared to online in many cases. This is probably because most of them are jewellry stores with the standard markup.

Ended up going in a slightly different direction than I intended.
It is my first automatic watch. I figure if I end up liking it I can always end up getting something nicer down the road.

It looked nicer in person than I expected. A lot nicer that what I am used to. I paid 420 taxes in, I thought that was fair.

In all other cases I’m with you Vlad, but perhaps I was too subtle about it. John(?) sold us two Oris watches below grey market with full warranty.
Though I wouldn’t be caught going to any mall in the next 5 weeks myself. Good luck with the purchase both options look great.

Vintage Rolexes are always interesting, but .........
I would caution about buying anything from this kind of online auction. As far as I could tell, the auction house does not make any warranty about the watches being authentic. Really, you have no way of knowing what you're actually buying.
I've mentioned before, when buying a vintage or 'previously enjoyed' watch, BUY THE SELLER. In this case, not worth the risk IMO but who knows, maybe you could pick up a classic on the cheap.

P.S. On second thought, not such great reviews out there, so perhaps it just looks pretty.

I am no watch baller, but I really like Citizen Eco-Drive watches after my Grandparents got me one when I graduated from University:
I recently picked up the Citizen Nighthawk as a gift to myself for receiving my P.Eng. and it has become my daily driver:
And then on Black Friday another Citizen I had my eye on went on sale at Amazon (which always has great prices for Citizen watches):
It is a pretty busy watch, but as an avgeek I love the Blue Angels colours and style. Hopefully one day I can afford a Breitling or similar high end watch, but until then, I will continue to enjoy my Citizen collection.

Finally pulled the trigger on a Tag heuer yesterday. Not exactly their highest end watch but definitely a big upgrade on my current daily watches.
Now the long wait for it to arrive.
