A buddy of mine is going to be upset about this. He was his idol growing up playing and tried to emulate his style.

The greatest unsung guitar master probably of ever. Lot's of stuff he does is so fast and fluid you think it can't possibly be a guitar that you're listening to - - gotta be a keyboard or a synthesizer. Amazingly talented guy.

To be fair he did play a Synthaxe....but I get what you mean.

I'm not really a jazz or fusion fan, but I saw a Jean-Luc Ponty concert in Vancouver in the late 70s (a guy I worked with had an extra ticket and let me have it on basis I'd pay if I liked the show) with Holdsworth as one of the guitarists and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Holdsworth was amazing while never being ostentatious.

I paid the guy for the ticket.
