Would like to hear Brouwer tell us whether he thought he had a disappointing season and if he's committed to improve in off-season

So do you mean you instead of we're and direction as in out of town this statement makes me a bit happier. I don't hate Brouwer, but I sure am disappointed in Brouwer.

Sam Bennett says he “hasn’t really thought about” contact negotiations this summer. He’s a pending RFA. #Flames

Mikael Backlund says he won't be going to the World's for Sweden. Back problems he's been battling with need time to rest. #Flames
Backlund with back problems? Wonder why...

*Spends 10 minutes looking for a post from AC with a vicious crosscheck Backlund takes off a faceoff against Eaves I believe that went uncalled*

Well, whatever, I'll edit this post maybe if he finds it for me.

Anyway, ya, the way to be the flames is dirty them.

Do you know which game it was in?

Watching Kesler and Getzlaf, it amazes me how dirty they are the second they lose a faceoff. Immediately crosscheck Monahan or Bennett in the ribs or hands.

I believe it was following the game on april 2nd but I can't narrow down the search field enough to pinpoint it.

It's such a dirty crosscheckk though, but now that I think on it, it's not off the draw, it's after a whistle in a scrum I think in front of the ducks net.

Backlund gets absolutely drilled from behind.

Thanks for posting all the updates folks.

Was sure that Guadreau had some sort of lingering hand issue during the ducks series.... I'd like to see him work on his shot more. Having the ability to get off a good shot while coming in off the wing like he does, may help his game where it makes the D at least stay honest to a shot, rather than playing back which doesn't allow gaudreau to the moves he does so well.

also, i'd like to eat a lot of crow regarding the engellend signing. Guy has been a warrior for this team for his entire contract, i'd love to hear them work out a deal this summer at a reasonable $.

What would this season look like without versteeg!? It is obvious this team needs a high skill winger to play in the 2nd/3rd lines (someone to replace Hudler). if not versteeg, we need a guy with that skill level.

Oh I know the one you're talking about.

Don't think it was Eaves though but Thompson. Gives him a hard crosscheck then a punch or 2 in the back of the head when he's on the ice. I've already purged that game though.

That game made me want to purge as well.

Why's JG playing at the worlds? He should be hitting the gym.

What do people think is going to happen when "JG hits the gym?" He could put on 10lbs of muscle over the summer and he'd still get creamed by Kesler. When you're 6 inches shorter and 50lbs lighter than a guy coming at you on skates, it's going to hurt whether you've got a six-pack or not.

Expecting guys like Gaudreau to be able to defend against getting thrown around is ridiculous. In Gretzky's era, he had guys like Semenko out there beating the crap out of anyone that even looked at him the wrong way. This is a completely different era now, though, so his only two options are for refs to call the game according to the rules (a slash is a slash, and a cross check is a cross check), and a linemate that is so busy hitting everything in an opposing jersey, that the other team is too worried about their own asses to worry about what Gaudreau is doing.

Seriously, people. In the NHL hockey world, Johnny Gaudreau is literally a midget, and there is nothing inside a gym that is going to change that.

I think it would be absolutely ideal if we could get an upgrade on Stone on the middle pairing to play with Brodie, and then get Stone to play with a kid on the third pairing, but if we bring back Stone and Engo, it's cool too.

I'd bet good money that

Brodie-Hamilton
Giordano-Andersson
Kulak-Stone

would be an incredible top 6. Andersson isn't near ready to carry a pairing on his own but would fit really well with Gio I think. Of course, you don't want to break up the Gio-Dougie pairing so this is a little unrealistic.

Sam you said the same thing last year, how about working on how improving other aspects of your game.

Can the Flames see what the players are doing in the offseason? Can the Flames make them do stuff, the Flames trainers want in the offseason?
