Wordpress is fine for the CMS site though.

great initiative to take on. certainly opportunity to phase this out (i.e. front-end revamp vs. back-end overhaul). Neither are insignificant amounts of effort and i applaud anyone seriously considering taking it on. I'd pitch in for beer, testing and other forms of moral support.

Agreed. 100% I didn't envision even being able to complete any front end stuff before this season, let alone tackle the back end, which I'm quickly learning is way more difficult than I anticipated.

For most of the team management roster stuff and so on, it would be ideally not wrapped in wordpress.
I suck at design but can whip together html front ends quick when given the assets and designs, and back end is where I like the most.

I'll head over to Kijiji...
For sale:
Customized and briefly loved WordPress theme. 65ish pages already set up.
Biasedly beautiful layout and color scheme. Near mint condition.
Feel free to talk to me like I'm a 4th grader here, because when it comes to this stuff, that's how I feel...
Because you suck at design, is there a way to simplify things for you, by having you (or whoever does the back end) create pages strictly for the back end, and I would have those I created link/direct to your pages? If that saves whoever does the back end any time, then please lemme know.
Or, if there's anything I can do to help, lemme know. I'm decent at Photoshop, so if there's any editing to pages that can be done there, I'm fully at yours, or anyone else's disposal if its workable.
If not, I'm happy to junk this site too. It was fun to do as a learning process either way.

Giving me the design and assets to use to make the site.
We can always use wordpress for the CMS and bits as previously mentioned.
This can then link off to a different area for the team management (and rosters etc) and follow the same design, so not everything would be lost that was done in wordpress, and then a CMS solution doesn't have to be made as well.
Ideally I'd also probably like to get input from everyone this time instead of just starting my own thing again. I got up to roster management and admins being able to add players, add to teams, etc. However, I want to re-work how I made the site so it would be a good time to figure out what's wanted.
Also Jiri - Would you be able to play around with the output options of the simulator (I believe there is one that creates an SQL file) and I can look into the options of having that auto update aspects of pages too.
(Also a 10 month schedule to get working works for me)
Edit - and commissioners - Can you also think of things you want that would make things easier for you?

I'd suggest what we should do is basically have whoever is going to be lead dev on this - buy a full copy of the sim and have a real working version to play with and try to integrate. I'd be happy to pay for it if need be.
Basically we need to develop this in parallel with the live site, and then when it reaches the point that we are confident that it does the job - cut over.
To make this happen we may wish to basically have a team that will own and run with it

Anyone throwing in for support for design/features/etc? I've started doing a kind of base for how to build the site.. none of which requires any front end yet.

I had some computer issues a while ago where I lost what I had .. because well I forgot to back it up... oops
Anyways was probably for the best as I have been able to pick it up again in the last couple of weeks (from scratch .. but already have more and is better)
I put some screenshots together of what I have so far.. it's very early on and still a lot to do, but anyways:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/c69w91c0hs...Site.docx?dl=0
Forgot to mention in the top right of the screenshots is who you are logged in as - So you won't need to always enter your password and so on when managing your team.

I'm redoing this thing again and need some insight.
The current version was done way too quickly and Ive always hated a lot of the functionality of it. Especially the team banner at the top. It never worked on mobile or smaller screens. I just never had the time to fix it. I still really dont, but am trying.
This new style will way more mobile friendly and fully responsive.
There will be 2 menus and the image below will show what I'm aiming for.
The top menu hides upon scroll. The divisional menu will stick to the top and the logo disappears upon scroll.
There's room for one or 2 more menu items in the bottom one. Something that will always be one click away no matter where you are on the website. I just need to know what y'all would like to have there. What page(s) do you visit most? What do you want there?

The most important pages for me are
1. GM list - I'm always checking the names of the GM to the teams. A lot of GM's I associate their name to their former teams for some reason. Its the page I hit every time I get a PM and then their page.
2. Players condition after every game, I check out what players are fatigued or not
3. Standings
4. Player Search

First of all, thanks JonDuke for what you do with this. It’s awesome!
As for what I look at most often:
Other team roster pages so I can see salaries and ages of players
Team scoring pages to check player stats on all teams
Team stats page showing overall rank on league PP, PK etc
Standings

Thanks Jon, I agree with the above suggestions.
Key field I use to add players in the database is the roster search.

Great job. One suggestion I was gonna make is can we add a trade tab listing all transactions that’s updated and looks good.
