That's a hole to fill that we don't have the means to currently fill. Lazar? Czarnik?
If you're happy with a Neal injury, you're short sighted and ignorant.

Technically, those who are happy with the injury are far sighted since they're looking past this season.

Anyone who is happy with the injury is bent.

It didn't look bad at all. I am guessing he has been nursing it for a while and that little bit of contact was the last straw.

No one is happy with the injury. He is useful this season. But his contract is a glaring impediment to our ability to sign a mark stone in the next few years.

Not even. And don't give me the "Neal brings value in practice/locker room blah blah". He's slow. Can't find a place on the ice. Barely has a shot in him. A replacement would be much better.. Whoever it is.

Neal being injured helps nobody, even if he was in the midst of another 8 game goal-less drought. Flames have no reliable depth at RW.
The injury looked extremely innocuous...but hockey players battle through minor injuries, so I would have expected Neal to return. The fact he didn’t return points to weeks, not days, as far as I can guess. What the hell fo I know though...
Time for Lazar to earn the price of that 2nd rounder we paid to get him.

If a Mark Stone type player wants to sign with the Flames.
I think we're going to be strapped for cash for the next while with Chucky, Benny, Hath, Potentially Rittich + a goalie hunt for a solid starter/backup. Even if you dump Neal/Frolik you're still looking at a extremely tight spot for the Flames.

Why wouldn't Mark Stone want to sign here? He's a western Canadian kid, the Flames are a Stanley Cup contender, and his brother plays here to boot.

I doubt Michael Stone will be here next season. He's been passed by 3 rookies on the team.
If you have to pick between dumping Stone or Brodie, Stone goes 10/10 times.

Is there a suggestion he doesn’t? I may have missed it...
I think folks believe the Flames can’t aford him in the cap (it would make 4 RW currently signed at > 4 million per), not that he wouldn’t come here.

Depends how the season and summer plays out though. At some point Anderson valimaki kylington will want and deserve more ice time. When that happens will Brodie be ok with a lesser role. Look at frolik and how he handled a lesser role. If the return on brodie is very good I'd move him in summer and be ok with stone on 3rd pairing.
Gio hamonic
Hanifin andersson
Valimaki kylington
Stone
Brodie probably lands us a first stone might get a 4th

Why are we talking about the Neal contract in the Neal injury thread?

How good or bad the contract is directly proportionate to level of sympathy and concern for injury.

I have watched that confluence of events repeatedly tyring to figure out exactly what he injured and the only conclusion for me that makes ANY sense is his MCL, and even then it looked like nothing.
Knees are weird though.

Isn’t it someone’s job to tell them when a player leaves the game?
Maybe I’m reaching but I found it entertaining.

Wills confirmed this AM that Neal’s injury is “lower body,” but then also said that he looked fine this AM. Who knows what’s going on.

I still don't think that's accurate, I think it is his shoulder.
He hurt his shoulder from a similar play on October 27th against the capitals.
Here are some posts from the game thread:

Neal finished out that game playing more than 16 minutes for an injury that occurred in the first period, but the next game his minutes were reduced to 10:22.
Those of us that have dealt with shoulder injuries know how flukey and non-impactful a shoulder injury can appear, especially if it's something that is a chronic problem.
To me, watching the video of the hit, it looks like when his arm goes against the glass he jars his shoulder backwards.
The other thing I think it could be is a hip/groin issue based on how he left the ice.

If nobody is recalled today, that could be a good sign.

Maybe, I guess?
Wills reported this information came directly from someone on the training staff.
