Seems like the Jays are looking to bring Teo back. But the Dodgers want to retain him, I can't see him passing up the Dodgers for the Jays.

Yeah, pretty much.
I've always thought that the Jays should be run like Tampa (except with money). That is to say that they should aim to be a Tier 1 Evaluation and Development organization except that unlike Tampa they should use their money to retain the super-star level players they make early (since they can't use the money like NY does to just replace them with other Superstar level FA players). Players seem to like Toronto just fine when they actually get there and they have the financial muscle to keep guys if they want to... it's just getting them there that's the problem.
That's how Toronto can build a sustainable winner. Not this gun shy approach where they just let guys run down the clock on their arbitration years.

Yeah. If we have two starting middle infielders, I think it makes sense to play the one who is better at defense at SS. The contract situation with Bo probably helps this, imo. It's not looking good for the jays to sign him anyway - so if he wants his bag he needs to perform next year not be a pouty whiner about playing 2B instead of SS. If he hits he'll get his $ wherever he plays.

In my view, resigning Bo would be a mistake,
They really need to trade him if they get the correct return

I think "if they get the correct return" is doing a lot of work there. One year of a player who had a huge down year last year isn't getting some huge quality set of prospects. If they wanted to trade him for a haul they needed to do that last offseason.

Agreed, huge mistake by the Jays....
Its either trade him by the deadline, or he leaves in my view

If either Bo or Vlad leaves without the Jays getting something in return then Atkins needs to be thrown off the CN Tower

The Jays have backed themselves in to a corner with no good way out.
They didn't trade Bo when his value was high, yet didnt make an attempt to re-sign him either. Didn't re-sign him when his value was low - and now he's on the doorstep of free agency and will get paid more than what he is worth to the Jays. The only solution left with Bo is to trade him - but his value is lower now coming off a poor season and only having 1 year of term left.
With Vladdy - I think they thought they were being smart playing the waiting game, but its becoming more and more likely it will come back to haunt them. He is in good shape now and just had a monster season. He will likely earn a large contract and this close to free agency - he will be very tempted to test the market and shop himself around. He may end up back with the Jays but at a massively inflated price tag.
Just really really poorly done by Shatkins.

Nothing they do makes any sense .
Even this offseason approach looking for long term superstars when your 2 best players aren’t locked up . So that next year (2026) you can …….try to replace Vlad and Bo in FA with worse players that are also expensive with no youth injection from the farm
An honest franchise would realize we aren’t contenders AND have a horrible farm system - the worse of both worlds - and start the rebuild . But Atkins won’t be here for the rebuild anyways so why not throw a Hail Mary
Brad Treliving situation IMO

They need to put Bo in the best position to be the most successful and IMO that's 2B. I believe that he is going to come into Spring Training with a lot to prove, so I think he will be hitting the cover off the ball from Day 1, but if he can show that he can be an average fielder at 2B and show some versatility I think it will increase his value.

I know its group think to crap on Bo but when you look at Bo's numbers (last year aside) and his age, it feels crazy to trade him. He's exactly the type of player you want to acquire.
Shatkins should never get another job in baseball management for how they squandered having Bo and Vladdy's.

It is very BT-esque.
They think they are playing 3D chess but they have become a bit of a laughing stock for Jays fans (and probably around the league as well)

I would love to see Bo sign long term in Toronto, but I don’t think that is something he is willing to do. I think it would be inexcusable to let Vladdy walk, make that guy a life long Jay. I think if they sign him long term other players will come to play with Vladdy, but the indecision on them signing him, is what is scaring people from signing here.

I have no issue keeping Bo - I love the guy
I see almost no chance he resigns here unless he has a horrible year then why do you want him
The time to sign him is long past . He will walk as a FA unfortunently
