Shout out to the two buddies in my row who both had multiple yarfs on the floor in front of their seats. ####ing amateurs. I also feel that, even if you'd be seeing mostly the same setlist twice, seeing them twice so you can just watch Danny play once and then just focus totally on the visuals the other, is probably the smart call.

Just going through some old pics and noticing that the last time KISS was here was also a Nov 12 (2009). Kinda bizarre.

Anyway, I recall that concert being okish, and made me realize how few KISS songs I actually know. Anyone here going?

It's a true geriatric crowd now, keep that in mind. I've had a few tiktoks come up and the whole crowd sits. Some may not mind that, but for me crowd interaction means a lot.

Pink added Edmonton to her summer tour.
Opening acts are Sheryl Crow and The Script.

Sat Aug 31, 2024 at Commonwealth Stadium. Will be basically back-to-back Edmonton Commonwealth shows for the folks heading up for Metallica the week before.

I had no idea Pink is currently this huge.

"P!NK’s Summer Carnival 2024 tour follows the success of her monumental 2023 run which shattered attendance records worldwide. The previously announced dates have boasted over 3 million tickets sold and a staggering $350 million grossed across dates in Europe, the UK, North America, and forthcoming Australia, and New Zealand dates. I could have sworn Motley Crue was just here in the summer?? Or is it just that they are always here?

It seemed to me like most people were there to see In Flames but I agree that it was a great show.

They last played Calgary twice on their "farewell tour" 8 and 9 years ago respectively. You may be thinking of the triple bill stadium tour with Motley Crue, Deff Leopard and Poison that went to Edmonton? Although that was two summers ago.

Well that QOTSA presale was about as easy as I’ve ever seen. Tons available in good spots. Not outrageously expensive either.

I find it weird that they're playing the Saddledome, isn't Queens typically a 3-5k band in mid size cities? I seem to recall them historically playing small venues here.

edit:

2011 - Jubilee (2300)
2007 - Corral (3700)

Are the two that come up in a search. Either way, by my count there's like 2000-2500 seats sold on the map plus whatever number of floor tickets are sold (you can't see how they're selling as it's general admission).

This could be as bad as when the Smashing Pumpkins played here like 9 or 10 years ago and ended up with 4000 fans.

Grey Eagle would be my preference for seeing them live, but it's a little small (2700, I believe?), failing that they're probably more of a Big Four building band (6000?) now that the Corral is gone.

They’ve played the Dome twice, although I don’t remember the first time. I don’t know if they’re big enough to sell it out but they’ve definitely outgrown smaller venues.

Ah okay, 2018 was their first headlining set at the Dome then (It doesn't say it in your link but 2005 was a Nine Inch Nails concert, Queens was the opener).

Also, I'm selfish, I want every general admission show to be at Grey Eagle now. It's just so easy and convenient watching a show there.

That’s weird. I definitely would have gone to a QOTSA/NIN show but for some reason I didn’t.

Grey Eagle is a decent venue but it’s not convenient for me. I’m hoping they fill the Dome. Ticket prices were relatively cheap so there isn’t an excuse not to.

It won't come close, I follow ticket sale trends. You get your pre-sale with mostly huge fans racing for seats, then anotherhuge rush on general ticket sale release day, then some more in the coming days. After that if the show is not selling well you'll generally just get a small trickle of sales in the coming months, followed sometimes by a few hundred in the weeks before the show, as casuals randomly hear of it or change their mind and decide to go.

The Dome holds around 15k for the set up they have for this show, best guess is 2000-2500 sold right now. That is abysmal for a Dome show and I'd imagine the most they'll get is 5k in the end, which would be 1/3 full.
