This is a fair point. Likewise Linus was drafted for his two way play. He was never envisioned as a sniper, he will live and die by his ability to be responsible with the puck in his own zone, something that stat lines at the end of the game don't necessarily show.

Its been a month. So i figured I would do another update.

Linus has returned from his loan and is back in the SHL playing with Skelleftea

On Saturday he had a goal, his second of the season ( in the SHL). He now sits at 33 games played 2 goals and 3 assists.

EDIT: Skelleftea is not having a great year, but they currently sit in a playoff spot, and should make it in.

The SHL's regular season just finished.

Linus Lindström's team Skelleftea found themselves in a position where they would have to win if they wanted a bye to the quarter finals. Fortunately they were able to do so, and they finished the season ranked 5th.

Linus already has 16 SHL playoff games under his belt and he will get a chance to gain more experience in that regard.

In to date the 21 year olds has played 139 games in the SHL.

Lindström ended the regular season with a stat line that reads

SHL
44 GP 3 G 3 A 6 Pts

Allsvenskan
5 GP 0 G 2 A 2 Pts

His stat line last year was

50 GP 2 G 4 A 6 Pts

Just like that Lindstrom's season is over. Skelleftea lost their series 4-2.
During that period Lindstrom was held pointless, so his season totals remain the same.

I never know how to feel reading prospect stats in the SHL. A guy can have three points in 25 games and then you find out Erik Karlsson only had two when he played in that league at that age. And I sit here like 'does he suck or is he Erik Karlsson?'

He's never Erik Karlsson, though.

I don't think that the point totals by themselves are disappointing. What is disappointing is the apparent lack of development from last year to this year. 21 is not old, but in today's NHL it is not terribly young either.

I also think he is more a Defensive minded Forward. I think his upside is basically Marcus Kruger.

Skelleftea (Lindstrom's team) played Oskarshamn ( Sveningson's team) for their season opener (SHL).

Linus picked up a short handed goal.

Sveningson did not dress.

you can watch the highlights to the game here. the goal starts at about 1:20.

Linus scored again on Saturday. He already has 2 goals in 6 games. He is already half way to his career best in goals.

What has gotten into Lindstrom. He had another empty net short handed goal today. 3 goals in 7 games.

Okay. Normally I wait until the game is over, but Lindstrom just scored again! He has just set is career best 4 goals, only 8 games into the season. If this keeps up, it will prove a remarkable development for the 21 year old centre.

Caveat to say that I don't watch him directly, but the highlights I have seen have always struck me as a player who thrives off of confidence. Here's hoping that this confidence boost is what he needs to take the next step for a full season!

Linus Lindstrom is continuing is hot start. Today Skelleftea faced Kärpät (Puljujarvi's team) in the champions league. Not only did Lindstrom open the scoring, but with 27 seconds left he scored again, tying the game!

If you count his assist last Saturday in SHL play, he has points in his last 3 games.

Lindstrom has shown a little offensive improvement over last year. He ended 2019 with a two assist night and now has a stat line that reads 29 GP 4 G 4 A 8 Pts. In comparison last year he totalled 6 points in 44 games.

The 21 year old's team Skelleftea is currently in 7th position and should be a lock for the playoffs again.

Lindstrom with another assist last Saturday in a 3-0 win.
He is now at a career high 9 points, with lots of season remaining.

Lindstrom scored an empty netter a few minutes ago in a 4-2 over Frolunda. 5 G, 5 A
