I totally agree with the bold, pardon my ignorance, I don't get these though?

Full credit for him in making the most the opportunity.
But I'll give credit to Derek Ryan, as once he got established late in 2018 and his feet under him, that entire line, and, Ryan and Hathaway on the PK, took off.

J Garnet Hathaway also has a career year with 9 goals and 14 points.

Peters has had full faith in those guys to both regain in-game team momentum, and have them play critical minutes becuase of their chemistry and smarts out there. And vs other 4th lines, especially when they get that matchup at home, they eat them alive.

I’m with you, I was actually quite surprised going through this thread. I didn’t realize the majority of the fan base was writing him off. He’s exceeded at every level he’s played at, improved on his totals in every situation he’s been given. Even now people are sort of speaking like bottom 6 is his ceiling. I fully expect him to find another gear, whether it’s during playoffs or next season, he’s not done yet.

I never knew much about Mangiapane, but figured his lack of scoring touch was due to him playing bottom line minutes for the most part. Can't really expect a rookie to produce much playing that few minutes with other 4th liners. But it's no coincidence that he's really taken off when Ryan started to find his groove. A good C elevates his wingers.

He's proving his ceiling is much higher then a 4th liner. I could see him becoming a pretty good middle 6 forward, and possibly even higher.

Great pick by the Flames.

I have to admit, I think a lot of his success has a lot to do with the organization's patience with him. He was kept up when he wasn't producing, and lo and behold when he gets a little confidence look what happens.

It's nice having all this depth to be able to do that.

Other teams can't play there 4th lines too much against us at the moment. The match-up is just too one sided and they get burned a goal a game. Mangi has been a big part of that. Tenacious, quick, excellent shot. Ryan has been playing out of his mind of late which helps obviously.

I have a feeling that Andrew Mangiapane will be an overtime hero for us this spring.

I didn’t think he had it when he kept getting knocked over twice a shift while battling for pucks. He’s probably not much stronger now, but certainly is doing a good job at picking his battles and more effective battling

It seems it originated as a descriptive nickname for someone who liked eating bread and evolved into a surname over time. Unlike Mangiacake which is a derogatory term for non-Italians (apparently a Canadian term according to Oxford)

If he can be a 10-15 goal/40 point player consistently that would be perfect.

The amount of players playing 11 minutes per night getting 40 points a season with no PP time would have to be zero.

Its amazing what some confidence can do for a player. That one timer last night shows that there's some finishing skills in them bones. Given more ice time a PP opportunities he could score 20 goals in 2-3 years. I see him as more of a finisher than a setup guy.
