Co-Op carries a selection of about 7-8 Georgian wines at the Oakridge location. Willow Park is probably a good bet. They will order it for you if there is a distributor for it in Canada. Some wines are simply not available here.

Just slid my way home from the Okanagan and brought back a few interesting wines...and a bunch of boring wine too. The interesting ones...Blaufrankisch from Mt Boucherie. An unusual red varietal that great on its own but usually used in blends. BFF from Little Straw. It's a blend of Blaufrakisch and Foch. It's the best red I've had in the area. An orange gewurztraminer from Dirty Laundry. They keep the skins on for two weeks and it turns orange and tastes.like a scotchy fruit bowl. Also a white Merlot from Back Door. A Merlot with no skin contact and so very smooth and rich.

Costco has the 2015 Tignanello, for those of you that care about that sort of thing...
While in LV for my birthday, I had a bottle of Insignia and a bottle of Chappellet Pritchard Hill - wow, wow, wow. I would say that's the best 2 wines I have enjoyed to this point. I managed to get Co-Op to procure me a case (it came in a real wooden case) of the Pritchard Hill (for cheaper than it was available in Vegas liquor stores) and, of course, Costco carries Insignia.
Also, FYI, I believe every Vegas restaurant has corkage, so as long as it's not a vintage that's on their menu, you can BYOB. There is a superb liquor store if you head south on the strip past the airport with an amazing selection. I walked there from the Venetian in 90 minutes in 37 degree heat, but if you are sane, it's a cheap Uber.

I drank some Bottega Gold Prosecc last weekend, and I quite enjoyed it. Does anyone have suggestions for a good 'affordable' sparkling wine?

Steller's Jay Brut used to be offered by Sumac Ridge (Summerland BC), but now it seems to be offered on its own:

We usually had good luck with this over the years, and the price point is very good.

I'm a big fan of 8th Generation Integrity. Very light bubbles and good throughout the year. With summer coming up the Confidence is a fruitier bubble which I do love.

I've bid on lots of stuff at this auction house. It's one of two major ones in Canada and totally legit. They've sold several paintings over a million. Their booze auctions are pretty cool too.

This sort of thing is right up my alley, too bad my bank account doesn't agree.

Hey Vlad, I looked this thread over and thought you had posted a link of where you could buy crates of wine? Do you still have that?
Also, what wines are you guys enjoying over the holiday season?
On the weekend we had friends over and they brought some Portuguese wine. Charamba, Duoro Reserva 2016. Very light and tasted great with a few steaks.

zyn.ca is my main source for bulk and hard to find items. They were/are having a Christmas sale and I was negligent not to post that here here earlier.
As to stuff that has been notably good... I had a red blend from California Paraduxx 2011 which was excellent and a very good moderately priced pinot from Banshee (also California).

Should We Be Drinking Less?
Scientists helping to update the latest edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans are taking a harder stance on alcohol.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/10/w...=pocket-newtab
Quote:
The committee said in a recent conference call that it plans to recommend that men and women who drink limit themselves to a single serving of wine, beer or liquor per day. Do not drink because you think it will make you healthier, the committee says: It won’t. And it maintains that drinking less is generally better for health than drinking more.
The new recommendation would be a victory for experts who have long questioned the health halo around moderate drinking. They say that studies showing it can protect health are deeply flawed, and that any potential cardiovascular benefits would be outweighed by the fact that alcohol is a leading preventable cause of cancer. According to the National Cancer Institute, even one drink a day increases the risk of breast, esophageal and oral cancer.
