This obsession over drafting tij is getting rather ridiculous. I have him middle if the teens and would be pretty upset if the passed by a Catton or Dickinson to grab iginla. Truth be told greentree and iggy jr would be a coin toss never mind if catton was missed.

With all due respect, you don’t pass a top line center for a winger, Iginla or not
Now if they don’t believe there is a top line center then it’s another story
Flames win lottery
Flames trade Markstrom to NJ for their 2014 1st
Flames draft:
Celebrini
Iginla
Parascak
Future 1st line
Iginla - Celebrini - Parascak

Fair... but we can use NJ's 2014 1st to draft Brayden Point, since he wasn't taken until the second round that year.

But before people jump all over Huska, I doubt he has the mandate to do that
Yeah it's an organizational decision and not something the coach decides on his own. I get that they are trying not to fester a culture losing but the reality is that the veteran players on this roster aren't good enough to get this team in the playoffs. That's the reality. End of story. They can go out and sign the Debrusk's and Duclair's of free agency but a year from today they will likely be in the same situation of looking at the playoffs from the outside. If I'm running the team I'm looking at other ways to improve the team which starts with playing the younger prospects to help bring them to speed in meaningless games so they can have a baseline for what they need to work on in the offseason. If the vets don't like it I would remind them that it was their play over the majority of the season that got the team to where it is today and if they don't like it then come to camp next season with a chip on their shoulder. Never given, always earned factors into the beginning of the season when every team is starting clean slate but riding out the weeks to golf season is the perfect time to take a look at some prospects that the team feels are close, providing a measuring stick of where they are at and maybe a healthy dose of confidence that if they make a mistake that they aren't going to be benched or sat.
Further to that, it doesn't have to be every game. Warrener specifically mentioned Anaheim, and I would add SJS, CHI and ARI to that - play the kids a tone IN THOSE GAMES, and play the regular roster against the playoff teams.
The vets aren't getting worked up about playing ANA anyway.
Yeah, it's not so much about Huska... it's more about just changing the organizational culture. "Winning games is the mandate" isn't much of a mandate, when the team you have can't get into the playoffs and can't do anything in the playoffs if it actually gets there.
Maybe the better option is to put Rhett in charge of the mandate (lol, since he'd have to buy the team first).

The other argument that went through my mind while watching the clip is that Huberdeau might as well be one of the young guys too, since we still haven't figured out where/how to get anything stable out of him.
Maybe [Huberdeau Pelletier Coronato] is the next [Zary Kadri Pospisil]!
