Playoff Series Thread: Montreal (1st Atlantic) vs NY Rangers (Wildcard) NYR win 4-2
This series is officially set. Montreal who finishes 1st in the Atlantic will play the Rangers who are in a wildcard spot. Should be a fun series. I'll post times, etc when they are announced. Early prediction: Habs in 7. I think Carey Price will win it for them.

Poor Montreal, their reward for winning the division is a tougher opponent

Yeah, no kidding. For casual fans this will be a must watch series, as it could easily have been an eastern final series.

This should be a great series with both teams having almost identical records. If the Rangers do end up finishing with more points I believe this will be the first time with the new playoff format a wild card finished higher than a division winner.
I have been saying for a while the Rangers will make the Eastern finals going through the Atlantic so won't change it now. Rags in 6.

Habs have usually matched up pretty well to the Rangers. Not to mention the Canadians won 9 of the 13 games in March, on top of an additional 2 games in April where as the Rags as stumbling winning only 5 out of 13 in March and just stopping a losing streak in a narrow win over Philly.
Habs in 5 close games.
Edit: Would be worth mentioning that the Habs have snuck past the Rangers in conference rankings (101pts to 100, both 80 games played)

The Canadiens hopes and prayers are resting on the play of Price.

Bad draw for the Habs as the Rangers are the more playoff tested team. I'll take the Rangers in 7.

Playoff predictions this weekend will be fun.
This is a tough one. Rags looked like contenders in the first half. Second half not so much, more inconsistent. Don't like Montreal's team but Price allows them to stay in every game.
Habs in 7

Rangers in 5. All that tinkering Bergevin did will crumble.

Rags in 6, I just think that for all the changes in Montreal that the Rangers will kill them by grinding them to death.

This matchup looked very likely for about a month so you know these two teams have scouted the other intensively.
