Found out my golf dues are going up $100 to $1,100 for the upcoming season. Still a bargain when compared to other courses.
My course (Nanton) is offering new form of membership called "The Annual" where golfers under the age of 40 can play unlimited golf/7 days a week, for $800, without having to purchase a share deposit. It's an attempt by my club to attract younger golfers as our club has an aging membership and a decline in golfers under the age of 40.
I've been playing out at River's Edge in the men's league for several years now.
The course sent an email out to the league stating that the pro has left the course. He was pretty much the reason we stuck around, so our group might be in the market for a new league.
Anyone have any info on leagues in the south part of Calgary or Okotoks?

Can you guys recommend a good coach in Calgary? Someone who isn't going to try to change my swing completely. I'm hitting my irons well but developed a slice with my driver in the middle of the season and can't figure it out. I used to hit very good drives so I think its something in my set up. Thanks.

My son takes lessons with Wes Heffernan at the Golf Canada Centre.
He is a very good coach who I'm sure can help you sort out your drive.
Kelowna golfers who aren’t ready to put away the clubs for the winter are in luck.
Shadow Ridge Golf Club has announced that the course will reopen to players today and plans on staying open throughout the weekend....
This is intriguing. Any idea where it is going to be built? I like the idea hopefully they can make it work as well as top golf from food entertainment stand point. With top golf stalling on their development into Canada since selling their rights there is a big opportunity for someone to jump into that niche.
Probably like top golf in that you play once every couple months isn't bad but if you go all the time its boring.
Also looks like from their website they want to licence the idea. Hopefully they will have strict quality control in place. I could see operators cheaping out and rather than having a premium food experience like top golf you get your limited food options like a golf simulator.
