here's a good example of how a course f's up by not policing it properly, and this is the course I am a member at. On Sunday, I played 2 games, first at 8:30, 2nd at 2ish, so after the 1st game we went into the restaurant for food.
You're basically looking at the 10th tbox, when you're in there.
So, we must have went in around 12:30 I would guess, after we paid all of debts in parking lot, etc. So we, were eating, and noticed no one, had t'd off on the 10th for at least 20 minutes, maybe even longer.
Finally a group of overweight people, 3 guys, and a kid about 12 ish, pull up, and come inside and get hotdogs, go back outside, and stand around their carts and eat them.
The group behind them just finishes putting out at 9 and are about to jump back in the carts, when the first group, covered in mustard and ketchup jump back in their carts and head to 10, where they proceed to chunk a bunch of balls into the trees and water, and take at least 2 tshots each.
I would have lost it, if I were the group behind them. We told the pro to go talk to the marshal, because this group was way behind, and making it a longer day, than it should have been for everyone behind them.
when people start at 10 am on a Sunday, and it takes 5 hours, and they will never be back, the course loses, because their marshals are not doing their jobs.

It's why most sane courses will have a 24/48hr cancellation policy and turn any cancellation after that time into a voucher for a future date (non peak time, regardless of what the original round was paid for). So they're still getting 4 rounds even though they're losing two tee times in the future (maybe) and the customer is still receiving something for their money.
Any course that has it another way is just begging to be screwed out of money (see: City courses).

How do they charge for it though? I don't give any CC information before I get there, and haven't had issues making Tee Times.

He said they were going to be taking CC on weekends now, for public, and if you show up with 2 when you book a 4, you only get one TTime reimbursed, something like that.
If people book as 4 and show up as 2, in primetime, they should be held back for the next 2some to be matched up with.

The elected board at Nanton keeps a close tab on members who book tee times and don't show up. Weekends get the major focus as unused times cost the course money. First time offences get a warning from the pro and any further offences will result in booking privileges being suspended for a period of time.

Birthday rounds in Banff have increased from age + cart to $125.Still good if you go alone, but a lot less attractive if you had planned to split the total green fees down the middle.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I don't think Banff is worth $125 anyway.

that's like twice as much as heatherglen or 25% more than elbow springs (weekends). I'd say it is.

How do you compare Heatherglen and Banff? What type of jeans do you golf in?

Banff is my favorite course I've played anywhere. I love it and I play it every chance I get.

well, I just compared them by the green fees. I haven't been to either one in a long time, but I'd go to Banff before Heatherglen for the money.
PS, I golf in overalls.

I just picked up a Garmin Approach S6 Golf watch from SportCheck. It was priced at $509 and was marked down to $299. When I got to the till they took off another $75.
What a deal. If you check them online tonight (Flash Sale) I think you can get the same deal. Not sure if the $75 discount would apply.

Called the course and can get on Sat at 4 pm.
I've had the booking page open in 3 different browsers,so thinking it's not a browser issue.

There are sure a lot of high strung, tense and anxious golfers here. It seems like half the forum can't enjoy the game unless it's played in less than 4 hours. Remember, you're out there to have fun.
What no one here has acknowledged that some golfers have mobility issues. I have had 2 major surgeries and am forced to use a cart with a handicap flag (believe me, that is hard for one's ego to accept).
As some have noted there are also fat golfers! Oh the humanity! There are also plenty of mobility issues that aren't apparent from simply looking - bad hip, knee, etc.
If you're golfing on a nice sunny day and the pace of play is slow, just enjoy being out with your friends.
Your worst day on the golf course is better than your best day in the office
