Missed the game due to work and I haven't watched the highlights yet, but it sounds like it was another typical game where the Flames are asleep at the wheel in the 1st, but then they crank up the comeback mojo in the 2nd and 3rd. Good to hear they pulled this one out of the fire.
On the 3rd Florida goal, Loubo mentioned on the radio that Rittich lost his stick on that play, otherwise he likely makes that save. I'll have to take a look for myself once I see the highlights.

I assumed she meant Yandle was going for the hands and not the stick

They really need to change that rule. If a goal is scored on an empty net while there is a delayed penalty call the penalty should stand.

I think Yandle was going for the stick myself. But it's still a penalty.

I don't understand. so it is ok to try to chop someone's hand off if he is "lashing" out? Why?

Kylington with 14:30 of ice....season high maybe?
He played well either way.
Hanifin is really fighting it....though he looked much calmer after the switch.
Hamonic is just so steady and good at everything he needs to be good at. I would say he is now the 2nd most important guy on the blueline now.
Sans any major injuries, i like this group to do great things, though you never know how the youngins will react to the pressure of the playoffs.

The Flames have 29 wins after 46 games. This matches the 1988-89 Flames team after 46 games. If they won the next 5 games, which would be 10 in a row, they would tie the 88-89 team in points. If they won another 9 games, making it 19 in a row, they would pass the 1988-89 team for points.
If the 2018-19 team goes 28-8-0 during the final 36 games they will have more points than the 1988-89 team. However, the 1988-89 team did it in 80 games. The Flames would need to go 29-7-0 (.806 winning percentage) in order to best them. The 1976-77 Canadiens had a points percentage of 0.825. The 1977-78 Canadiens had a points percentage of .80625. So it's totally doable.
I'm surprised that a self proclaimed math god doesn't know this.

Yeah, no way a guy like him is going to tomahawk a guy’s hands on purpose like that. Still a reckless play though — if he accidentally missed and catches the player, that’s probably a 10 game suspension.

The way I interpreted that was she meant he actually meant to go for the hands, and while I'm on the fence about that, it doesn't change the fact that he should've gotten at least a 2min minor for the slash.

This isn’t an issue, the refs only gave him a 10. Flames were already on the PP so had they called a 2 min Huberdeau would come out and the new penalty would go up.

As of right now the Flames are clear of the fourth place Ducks by 16 points. That is unbelievable for Jan 11th.

I don't like these shaky wins. This luck is on borrowed time. Take the two points but cripes, flames need to be better.

No, I really don't think so.
That was a crazy hard tomahawk, and I don't believe players make plays like that with the intention to injure. That hit would probably have taken Monahan's hand clean off.

GOAT!
|
Some math:
In the 36 games since getting blown away by the Pens, we’ve earned 75% of our possible points. If you were to apply that same points percentage to the 10 games up to and including that Pens game, we would be at 69 points right now — 1 point behind Tampa.
