Default Trevor Fricken Lewis

I've been so impressed by Lewis this series. I didn't understand the acquisition when we landed him but colour me impressed! This guy shows up for the big games and he's been an absolute beast out there! I can see why he has Sutter's trust. Such an underrated player.

That was the most excited I’ve been for an empty net goal in my life.

I took in about ten games live at the Dome this year and mentioned a few times on here how I was impressed by his play and that with his play style he will be big for this team in the post season. All heart and grit. Never gives up on a check.

Absolute workhorse, you can see who has been in the playoffs in a big way before and who hasn't. Those guys were a difference maker last night.

He must be up near the top for the team in terms of empty net goals. And that's an area the team seems to struggle with.
He's clearly a guy that Sutter trusts.

Lewis has been a great addition to the Flames and probably hasn't gotten the respect since he's a 4th liner that doesn't score - much. But man, he's showing you what Sutter's hockey is about! He's totally underrated.

Said it a few times in the year that his north-south play style was gonna be huge come playoff time and well, here we are. 3 points in 5 games. That's the kind of guy you need and am I ever happy that we have him

There was an interview with his dad a few months back where he was beaming about how proud he was of Trevor and I thought it was awesome as we always see shots or interviews of the parents of top players but it's important to remember that even a 4th line NHL player is a really, really good hockey player. I'm sure his dad was a proud as ever last night of his son.

Sometimes have to remind ourselves that if you're an NHL regular, you're one of the top 500ish players on the planet. So that's pretty good.

Hate making comparisons to that 2004 team...... but he's this team's version of Stephane Yelle. Proven winner, calming presence on the ice and has that same gritty mentality that Sandbox had.

That's a good comparison, Yelle was a beauty.

My initial reaction was "but Lewis is a bigger version of Yelle", but they are basically the exact same size.

Yelle played a little higher in the depth chart (out of necessity , 04 team was not as deep and had injuries), more firmly the 3C but for sure some similarities to Lewis

while I had no real expectations for the 04 playoff run (who could?) I had some confidence (and was bold enough to say it on CP at the time) regarding 2 factors

1. the flames had the league goal leader and GAA leader- and up to that point, every team in modern NHL history with that combination made it at least to the semifinals
2. In Conroy and Yelle they had 2 centers that could legit shadow or shutdown what were then the 1-2 punches that most of the big guns in the west had at C in a pre-cap era ( some similarities to what LA can roll with Kopitar and Danault- who yes are obviously better all around than Conroy-Yelle)

Yelle was so sandpapery great....Lewis that's fine company

Lewis was on the kill the late penalty Ina Game 5 and won puck battles to get the puck out.
Lewis was on the ice to win puck battles protecting a 1 goal lead in a Game 5 and outworked every Dallas Star player to score
Lewis was kept on the ice after the goal to protect the 2 goal lead
Lewis scored the only goal of Game 3 and him and Lucic were the top 5 consistent forwards through the first 4 games of the series.

People are idiots of they don't know back when he signed, why Trevor Lewis would be brought back by Sutter.
