Default Sports Betting

We have a degenerate thread for NFL betting from 2020 but given single game betting is now legal in Alberta - and I assume they will soon allow 3rd party companies to get involved - probably time to start a thread.

As someone in Ontario where they just opened it up to 3rd parties - here is what you will see.

Basically every ad during a game will be replaced with a betting ad. Bet365, Bet99, TheScoreBet, MGM, BetRivers, and probably others - just ad after ad.

I signed up for the Score Bet.. and the hoops they make you go through to log in are unbelievable. You can sometimes get in with biometrics but half the time you have to use your password, even if it accepts your biometric login - you still have to enter a pin, then get some awful security question (awful outdated security questions like 'what was your first pets name), then you get some screen that asks if you are ok to gamble (i.e. are you drunk).

I'm assuming this is all provincial regulations since no one would make this awful experience by default.

Anyways - lots to look forward to

It's crazy how many of the ads on the boards are from gambling outfits.

I actually don't get the available in Canada advertising. We're we ever restricted? I've been on bet365 for 20 years.

Can anyone point out what they find is the best/most user friendly app to use for sports betting. I feel as though the Score Bet will be great once available to be utilized in AB, but for right now, what and why are you finding to be the best app?

I'm a rookie gambler looking to ease my toe into the water.

Pinnacle for the win. Don’t bother with any other online bookmaker.

It was a grey area where sometimes books/casinos or payment companies would suddenly restrict Canadians and their regulators were located outside of Canada.

With gambling sites now licensed, you can probably complain to your provincial regulator rather then one in Malta, Gibraltar or Curacao if you ever run into an issue.

My provincial regulator? phhhhtttt that would take forever.
I'd rather have Gibraltar, they always solved my disputes, the few that I had.

Poll: Majority of Canadians favour making sports betting illegal again just to get rid of the ******* ads

I've only used ScoreBet and Sports Interaction.

ScoreBet is app only. Besides the wonky log-in process - which I assume is requirement - its ok. I do find the in-game betting can be a bit wonky as it often updates/clears before you have time to get a bet in.

Sports Interaction was the 'semi-legal' Canadian book before the legalization. Its website only (no app yet). Its pretty simple and its easier to make more complicated bets on a website (parlays, teasers, etc). But the lack of app is a drag.

I'll likely rotate through most of them to take advantage of the deposit/sign-up bonuses so will update as I go through them.

Its wild how many options there are - BetMGM, theScoreBet, FanDuel, bet365, Caesars, BetRivers, Pointsbet, Bet99, etc, etc.

The live thing is usually because they are ahead of whatever tv feed is showing by 15 seconds at least, sometimes up to a minute

I think Sassy Aaron Paul is my favourite of all the ads. I particularly like how the word "hockey" is overdubbed when he's not on screen, like that obviously wasn't in the original script but they shoehorn it into the Canadian commercial.

Marketing works!

After three weeks of relentless ads, curiosity got the better of me and last night I made my first bet on the Flames game. I really lucked out and made a fairly large 4-digit win through Best365 by betting $150 that Lindholm would score the first goal of the game.

It's annoying that I can't figure out how to do a withdrawal. I can't figure out what the swift code is for TD, can't find out on their website, nor can I find the address for TD (oddly when I searched on TD's Canadian website I get information for the US - such as an address in New York.)

I'll probably call TD, but...ugh, why is this so hard? Either that's intentional on Bet365's part or I'm just missing something.

Definitely intentional. They want to make it as difficult as possible to take money out in hopes that you'll just bet it again

Huh. I didn't even know this sub forum existed until now, all hidden down at the bottom.

I was wondering why there was so little discussion on sports betting, especially after the 500 hours of commercials we've all been exposed to the last few weeks

TD's SWIFT code for Canadian Wires is TDOMCATT, but I think because Bet365 is based in the UK you should use the international SWIFT which is TDOMCATTTOR

I've been withdrawing through Etransfer through TD for the past 3 months.
I just withdrew $1600 yesterday(Thanks Mike Smith!) and it was in my account by 6pm tonight.

Used to use idebit but it seems TD has blocked all their chequing accounts to that app.
