Not sure its worth trading any decent long term contracts for 1 year of Hoffman. Ie: We shouldn't be moving Hanifin to make this work
No, I agree. Not unless you could move Hanifin in a trade that includes another promising Dman that's still on his ELC. Like Jokiharju, Hronek, Fabbro, Dobson, etc.
But those are unlikely to be moved I'm sure. Maybe Jokiharju out of that bunch.
I can’t see how flames could afford Hoffman. Ryan won’t cover it. I have my doubts you could save much money with a Rittich trade. As someone else said you don’t trade Hanifin for 1 year of Hoffman . If we are adding through Ufa market it will be at the $1 million to $1.5 million range and that’s even a stretch. Starting to think the team is pretty close to set . I don’t believe any of the top line is getting traded. Maybe Mangiapane depending on contract talks and arbitration?
Guys. Stop talking down Gaudreau. GMs might read this. Let’s talk about how amazing he is and how hard he is to defend against. Totally not predictable. Yeah.

Teams havent figured him out. If anything its his drive and compete. He is so skilled that you might think you have him but he can slip around.
IMO, haven’t seen the drive and compete that he showed earlier in his career, specifically in the last 100 games. The conclusion, from my viewpoint, is that he has become a perimeter player who will not consistently pay the price, going to the scoring areas, to be a top player.
Still a good player but not a high end player, unless he is willing to go to the tough areas.

He used to cut into the high slot between defenders. He quit that, and now he’s being funnelled to the corner consistently, except when he buttonhooks.

Uhm, I'll take Reinhart and Risto please. They are a goal scoring pairing if I ever seen one.
I haven't seen much of Reinhart. He looks really good around the net in this video, though all players do when you're showing a video of all their goals unless you're James Neal. Reinhart looks to have very good hockey sense, a very good shot and great hand eye for those beauty tips. Also like that he plays both PP and PK.
Prioritizing a special teams specialist at the cost of the assets you listed would be madness.
Particularly because we've got Giordano, Andersson, Valimaki, Kylington and Hanifin - four of which are 23 years old, and have all shown offensive upside.

How’s his skating now? Of course, with Eichel it probably doesn’t matter in Buffalo.
I’d be putting Johnny with Backlund if they go into season with same top 9. Johnny needs a center who can drive the play and enter the O zone. This is something Ward should have done in the Dallas series .
A team to watch is Carolina. I can't find the local Carolina paper I saw it in, but there was an open question about how 'for such an up and coming team' they have been very, very quiet. They have cap, assets and holes in their roster.
Not sure about the cap space. CapFriendly says they have $5,082,261 with Fleury and Foegele to sign
