i would imagine MacDonald might be thinking there isn't any point spending cash on a custom paint job when the Flames organization has been wishy washy about back ups.
On the other hand there hasn't been a back up yet worthy of keeping.
I have a good feeling about Taylor.
MacDonald is a sevicable older back up nothing more, but i am glad Taylor is going to get a look.
I would pass on Irving after this season.
But by the end of the night he might want a Troy Ward coached team playing in front of him, with all the blown assignments and shoddy coverage there will be.
Yeah, we're finally seeing a lot of the ugly that Kiprusoff manages to hide.

According to several people, including Ward and Sigalet, he's one of the most mentally stable, calm and focused goaltenders they've ever had to deal with.
During TV breaks, he takes a knee in the middle of the hash marks and stares at the puck in whatever circle the next faceoff is in. He says going over to bench to chat and drink water distracts him, so he says what better way to stay in the game than stare at the object he's trying to stop.

Are there issues with Taylor's pads? Ran across a tweet about him cheating with his pads and that he doesn't do his bottom strap down to keep the pads tight to his skates. Trying to find it again but I think it was Kukla's Korner that had the link.

Hadn't heard anything about his pads, but he was forced to get new skates. The brand or make of the skates he used in the AHL didn't submit their specs to the NHL, so the NHL doesn't allow that brand or model.

I would imagine if Taylor had an outstanding shutout performance, there wouldn't be much of a controversy - he'd become the go-to guy in the crease until Kipper came back.
