I thought he did quite well for his first show. His opening comments were genuine and clearly he was close with Alex.
And I thought he managed the game play well. If he gets the gig, I think his personality and humor will start to come into it - but for last night that would not be appropriate. Just about getting through the game, which he did well.

gag. worst guest host ever.
Jeopardy! fans rip guest host Dr. Oz: 'Does this mean he'll make up the answers?'
https://canoe.com/entertainment/tele...f-4946c4c2c58d
“I’m writing, not to be snarky, but to sincerely register my objection to this show associating its long-established identity of fact-based knowledge with a man whose stature has become increasingly dependent on dangerous pseudo-science,” one user wrote.
Former contestants and winners spoke out against Oz in an open letter on Medium.com last month, saying his selection “stands against everything Jeopardy! stands for.”
“Throughout his nearly two decades on television, he has used his authority as a doctor to push harmful ideas onto the American public, in stark contrast with his oath to first do no harm,” the letter continued.
“Jeopardy! is known for being incredibly rigorous; a well-deserved reputation,” the note concludes. “To then invite Dr. Oz to guest-host is a slap in the face to all involved.”

What a disgraceful choice. Recordings cancelled until he's done.

Bring back Ken Jennings. He's clearly the guy for this job.

My rankings of the subs so far.
1. Ken Jennings. Kept the game moving and seemed natural and started to inject humor.
2. The Producer. Had to step in due to COVID and handled it very well.
3. Katie Couric. She seemed just too dang nice and the game slowed with her at the helm. Nothing irritates me more than not getting to all the questions. This happened a lot with her.
4. Dr. Oz. WTF.

I would add on that Jennings has the same enthusiasm and reverence for the show that Alex had. He treated every episode like an absolute honor to do the work. Plus his credibility as the "greatest player ever" as per that last tournament gives him an edge over just about anybody else.
And yes, Dr. Oz....yikes.
Here's my humble brag moment: my mother-in-law went to school with Dr. Oz. She said she remembers having classes with him. For the record, she's smarter and more successful than him.

In terms of actual ability to host... Dr. Oz is good.
In terms of who he is, just an awful voice.
Jennings was great start to finish.
Mike Richards grew on me, he was too Type A frat boy at the start but his personality quickly corrected my first impression.
What makes Katie Couric a great interviewer,is her downfall as host. She's too even keel, to perfectly professional. Jeopardy needs a host rooting for the contestants.
Then, yes, Oz. He's doing a good job, but who he is as a snake oil salesman should disqualify him.

I think Oz is an improvement over Katie Couric, if no other reason than for speed of play. I'm not a fan of him or his false science claims though.
Both Ken/Mike did a great job - I think Ken would make a better full time host. I still want Austin Rogers to host a 2 week block.

I still want them to give LeVar Burton a shot.
I think he'd be great.

I think Ken Jennings did an excellent job.
Mike Richards did well. He took a few episodes to grow on me. I don't know what it was, he gave me a frat boy vibe, but it faded as his run went on.
I like Katie Couric, but her best asset as an interviewer, her consistency in neutral tone, is her biggest hinderance as host of Jeopardy. The Jeopardy host isn't supposed to be neutral. The host is supposed to be rooting for the contestants to win while pretending to be neutral. It's a fine line, but Couric didn't have any excitement when constestants struggled with an answer then got it, no dissapointment for wrong answers.
Dr. Oz is doing a good job hosting. But where Mike Richards' bro-iness wore off on me, Dr. Oz selling his soul to become a snakeoil salesman isn't something I'll be able to overcome.
Part of me thinks that the new host shouldn't be tied to another claim to fame. You don't want the host overshadowing the show. Alex and Jeopardy went hand in hand. Sure he was the host of Classic Concentration, but it didn't overshadow Jeopardy (even if 6 year old me thought it should have).
That said, I'm still PVR'ing Jeopardy and watching it daily (anyone else skip the commericals and the contestant interviews?) but will be happy when Oz goes back heind the curtain.
EDIT: Watching tonight's episode, Oz seems almost gleeful when a contestant gets the wrong answer. His "yes" when a player gets it right is getting annoying as well. He also is using incorrect phrasing when contestants don't get a clue (one of my biggest peeves if the answer is Calgary, Alberta contestants shouldn't say Who is Calgary?)

I normally just grab the episodes on YouTube following the show. There's a few channels out there that have it uploaded by the time I get home from work, and they've already done a great job of editing out the commercials.

I'd actually rather they edit out the contestant chats that happen after the first commercial break than the commercials themselves - those are terribly painful.
