Jeopardy was around long before Trebek and will be on a long time after.
(Art Fleming was the original host and in an eerie coincidence also passed away from pancreatic cancer)
He did, however, take it to a completely different level once it was syndicated and not a daily game show as its predecessor was.
Just such a great Canadian and by all accounts a true gentleman in a business bereft of them.
RIP good man, you have earned it in spades.

Trebek said he does want the series to go on and he did have input as to who the new host will be. But like someone else said in regards to the price is right. It will go on, but just won't be the same.
I'm gonna miss that guy. Like many here, I played along at home.
grew up with him. One of the few people loved the world over.
I have his new autobiography on order at the library. can't wait to read it.
The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
Damn this really hurts. Trebek was the full package, with smarts, humour, charisma, and the ability to rock an epic stache.
My favourite moments on Jeopardy! were his perfect pronunciations of foreign words and the subtle digs when contestants gave a dumb answer or went deep into the negative. The show format was good on its own but Trebek made it great.
Also at this time I can’t help but be reminded of Cindy Stowell. FU cancer.
RIP to a Canadian legend.

Normally Celebrity deaths dont really bother me but there have been a few I can think of that have actually made me emotional and this is one of them. You missed on key attribute though...kindness. He was so kind that even the mildest zing from Trebek was like being kicked by a Mule.
Its not just that its Trebek, its what Jeopardy means to us.
This is a TV trivia gameshow.
A trivia gameshow that has brought families together to watch, paid scholarships, prize money for teachers and students and generally helped educate and inspire countless people and he was the figurehead for that.
The only solace I take is that his pain has now ended and, knowing that it was coming, he was prepared and graced us with his presence.
RIP and Godspeed you magnificent man.
I hope after the funeral they shave his moustache and cast it in Bronze and put it in the Smithsonian or something.

I’ll be honest, I can’t bring myself to watch his final episodes. I find it too difficult.
Given time, I’m sure it’ll pass, but I can’t do it right now.

I was thinking about that concept as well.
Funny how certain celebrity deaths strike a chord. For me it was James Gandolfini, Anthony Bourdain, David Bowie and Prince...
