I was amazed they even let them on the damn things. The fact they could go fast enough to catch air, having never ridden one before, with basically no lessons was bonkers.

I got such a snicker out of that one fella who was all "I got this! I ride bikes all the time! This will be no problem!"...who falls off his bike .5 seconds into the run.

That's like the Amazing Race curse. You brag about the race being in your hometown and you get lost trying to find a place, or you brag about doing something for work or a hobby and then completely screw up the challenge.

Although, in this case, he was able to recover quickly and still completed it on his first try, IIRC.

Welcome to Edmonton! Now, go to a mall. Once you complete the first task, go to a different mall.

It also wouldn't be a trip to Edmonton without a creepy photo of Wayne Gretzky showing up for no reason.

The One Way doesn't seem like it's as big a deal as a U-Turn, but Gilles & Sean were the perfect team to be forced to dance. I thought this leg might be a non-elimination, but it wasn't and the Grandfather and Grandson team are going home.
  1. Dave & Irina (Win a trip to Casablanca, Morocco)
  2. Aarthy & Thinesh
  3. Anthony & James
  4. Lauren & Joanne (Win $5000 gift card from The Source for fewest steps in leg)
  5. Sarah & Sam
  6. Meaghan & Marie
  7. Trish & Amy
  8. Gilles & Sean
  9. Nicki & Aisha
  10. Jet & Dave

  • surferguy: Meaghan & Marie / Anthony & James
  • csnarpy: Trish & Amy / Sarah & Sam
  • bigtmac19: Nicki & Aisha / Jet & Dave

Next week, the teams head north to Yellowknife for what will almost-certainly be a non-elimination leg.

The separate flights thing made this leg pretty lopsided, the first 2 times were done in 30 minutes. Trish and Amy sure looked angry at the end! Dave and Irina have a real Achilles heal. They can't handle even the remotest thought of not succeeding, I'm looking forward to them getting stuck on a task and falling to pieces. Doesn't look like it will be them the next leg, though. But soon. SOON!

I was also surprised to see such a nice garden in Edmonton, so I googled it, and it is closer to Devon than Edmonton.

Maybe they'll keep us on our toes and next week will still be an elimination leg.

Then have the final 6 go for a month.

That's the feeling I get, too. As soon as something really trips those two up, they are gonna lose it.

Maybe they can do us all a favour and start eliminating 2 teams per week and this thing will wrap up by the end of July.

If you don't like it... Why do you watch it?

I find most of the teams unique and exciting to watch, except the Quebec couple. And the Sask/Nova Scotia girls, I always get them mixed up. This is a pretty good season.

The Quebec team is exciting to watch. There is drama with them and Dave is quite dorky.

That Edmonton leg was so poorly designed.

Yah that was terrible planning. The 2 teams on the first flight were essentially done by the time the other teams landed. It would not have taken 2.5 hours to do the next 3 steps.

"I hope we'll see some penguins."

"What's a metre?" -- "About 3 feet." -- "I'm four feet."

If there's one lesson to take away from this week's episode, it's if you're going to Yellowknife, rent a car. Also, learn how to read a frickin' map.
  1. Aarthy & Thinesh (Win a trip to Dublin, Ireland)
  2. Meaghan & Marie
  3. Dave & Irina (2 hour penalty)
  4. Sarah & Sam
  5. Lauren & Joanne
  6. Anthony & James
  7. Trish & Amy (non-elimination)
  8. Gilles & Sean
  9. Nicki & Aisha
  10. Jet & Dave

As Fuzz noticed last week, Dave & Irina fall apart if they hit any kind of minimal adversity. That will likely be their undoing. I'm surprised that a 2-hour penalty only dropped Dave & Irina to third place. I'm also not sure why it was a 2-hour penalty and not 4.

As expected, it was a non-elimination leg and Trish & Amy will need to complete a Speed Bump next week.

Next week:

Irina won't go in the water. At the pit stop, she says she could have done it, but she just didn't feel like it. Burning your express pass because you didn't feel like doing something. Good strategy there!

My other team, Anthony and James, were just about as stupid. If you can't figure out the task, don't keep doing it over and over and THEN use your express pass.

Fortunately ? both survive without a speed bump, although I will sacrifice losing Dave and Irina in the pool just to see the looks on their faces when they are eliminated!

The 2hr penalty was a joke. It’s not enough of a deterrent.

So I may not have been paying good attention but how did the team not have enough for the cab when they were given $250 to start this leg?
