At the very least, give the guy reps with good players. You don't have anything to gain by having Eakin there. I get Mangiapane isn't expected to be out long but Pelletier has earned the opportunity to practice with the big boys. 75 great AHL games trumps a so-so rookie camp.
|
It really won't matter much anyways since Kadri is being held out of games to start.
He said he wants to give the PTO's a chance as well, you disrupt the bottom of the roster moving guys around. 1 guy out of place won't do much, a bunch of guys out of place just delays getting the reps and chemistry.

They have a whole season to see where Pelletier fits but only a limited time to see what Eakin would bring before the PTO expires and they have to make a decision.

Dube for the second year in a row
He was also fittest Flame prospect a few years back as well
Kylington might have given these guys a run for their money. He looks like a freak athlete, and was near the top last year

Right but you already know he's never going to see time on the second line. Pelletier might!

I mostly agree but basically trust Sutter implicitly.

He said yesterday that he is going to give the PTO guys a look, I sure once Eakin sees game action he will be released in short order.

Pelletier has 3 or 4 games in the next week to earn a look with the big boys

He already earned it last year. He just did. I get Sutter is an incredible coach, but Pelletier is a top-5 AHL prospect there is.

Well I'm impressed . Dube taking fitness seriously and hearing that Kylington worked his butt off this off season.
I'd think Darryls stink eye would be pretty intimidating if you showed up out of shape.
More moist news please .....I'm drying up....oh noes

Seems strange to me as well... I mean just fron a familiarity perspective I think Pelletier is more similar to Bread then Eakin so it seems to me that there is more value with him there.
Kinda projects that there is a 0% chance he makes the team which is kind of a bummer.

It is important that the Flames get a reputation of giving PTOs an honest tryout. It is early days, if Pelletier is an honest to goodness 2nd line winger than training camp lines will not be the difference in his career trajectory.

Where did you "hear" this? Kylington is not even at camp.
Probably spent too much time partying a D J ing in Greece when he should have been training. ( From the limited Twitter Pictures that were out of him in the off season) .

I don't think fitness has ever been a issue for Kylington. He has come in as one of the fittest players the last few years.
Not sure how going on vacation for a few weeks would impact his training.

He's also shown that he responds well to this kind of adversity. Maybe he's wondering if he can climb a higher mountain. Might as well put one in front of him and see what happens.

Bottom line ... it's day two of camp
You have to actually give PTOs a chance or good luck bringing in any next year!
This one is high on the "nothing to see here" chart.
