Yup I beat it home too, took one look at the radar and hightailed it out of work. Beat the storm by about 15 minutes and had three new PR's on Strava.

I must have been a bit behind ken - I set almost every record I have on my way home, and was over 50km/h in places around Quarry Park. Skies completely opened up around Deer River and then I got drenched for a few minutes.

Beat it as well, didn't set any PR's but averaged 34kph on the way home which I think is my fastest overall commute home.

Technically you can be charged with trespassing riding a resort after/before operating hours. Doubtful they would however.

You could also email the resort with your heat concerns and ask what their policy is. I'd have to imagine it's not an uncommon practice.

Complete Lunacy!!!

Apparently it's stormwater repairs which really makes the cutoff point outrageous.

I met my goal of 1100 km by the end of July. 1100 was my total for all of 2017- so I wanted to match that by the end of July- and try to double that by the end of this year.

Thanks to everybody for keeping this thread going which has helped push me- and all of the encouragement. Also a big thanks to everyone who helped steer me to getting the right bike. I have a buddy at work who I tried to get riding, and ended up giving up. I think I’m part was he was trying to do it on a Canadian Tire special mountain bike.

The Riverwalk pathway under the Reconciliation bridge (south side of the river) was closed this morning. Looks like PCL has scaffolding and such up on it for the bridge rehab. Was not a listed closure so not sure how long it will be this way. You just have to cross at the lights instead.

Rode Beowulf at silver star today. What a test this ride was.

First 10k was mostly flowly trails with a few punchy climbs.

10k to 20k all downhill very little pedalling.

20k to 30k torture. Almost constant climbing (and for me, quite a bit of pushing). This was the longest 10k of my life and I pushed my bike out from the end of keystone standard basin thanks to a mechanical last year.

Strava tells me that we climbed almost 1800m fro: the low point of the trail.

Not sure if I would repeat or not.

My friends bike was stolen from out front of her downtown office, right in front of the security office at that. Just a reminder for y’all, those cable locks are almost worthless. A thief can get through any lock, but chose something that takes more than some side cutters.

Copper/Orange Kona Roast older model w/ Marcozzi fork, brand new tires, small tear on seat, new bar grips/chain etc. It’s been her main transportation for damn near 10 years. I ####ing hate thieves.

An office a block from me in Vancouver has a few employees that park their bikes in front of where they work. The other day thieves unbolted the horseshoe shaped thing you lock your bike to, and stole a bike. This is another one where it was her main mode of transportation. People like this are awful.

I'm fortunate that I am allowed to park my bike inside my office. There's no chance I'd leave it outside during the work day.

Is there any place in Alberta that paints carbon frames? Found a couple decent shops, but in Ontario or Vancouver, which makes it pricey.

One of the best weeks of my life. Didn’t ride much on my vacation, but my stubborn 12 year old son finally is riding his bike. We went camping the last two weeks and I brought his bike. Just asked him to try if he wanted to. He got it two days ago. So frickin proud.

Wow sees, west bragg creek is currently in great shape.

My last two rides out there have involved telephone loop and long distance.

Plan on heading out Wednesday maybe ending to do those, plus Merlin. That should provide me with enough elevation gain for one day.

I’m thinking of heading out in the heat of Thursday and maybe checking out bobcat. I’ve never been on that, I’ll see how I feel once I get to the top of Ranger Summit.

Merlin’s always fun, a great payoff for the work put into the climb.

Just got back from a week in Squamish. I can't believe the trails out there. They are incredible. Their blues are definitely harder than our blues, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty amazing to ride. Both my wife and I had moments of, "OMG that was the most fun I've had on a mountain bike." I highly recommend...just be prepared to climb.

Went for a solid spin this morning in bragg creek as I rode telephone loop, long distance, disconnect, Merlin’s and then bragging rights

A solid and enjoyable 3 hr ride of around 23k with 600m of elevation gain (and loss).

Trails are dry, with lots of loose rocks in places. Smoke was not an issue for me.

Kudos to everyone who is riding in the Ride to Conquer Cancer this weekend.

The first 10km through Tuscany and Rocky Ridge will be challenging with 250m of climbing to start the weekend. The last 2km on Sunday will also be fun with 50m of elevation gain to end your ride.

I'll be the guy snoring in tent city along with you.

Hopefully the air quality improves by then.
