I’m sad that he passed away. Just like everyone else, I really wish he hadn’t. I sympathize with his friends and family who are grieving his loss. However, his death doesn’t erase the things that he allegedly did when he was alive but I don’t want to prolong this so I’ll leave it be.

You already have prolonged it, after repeatedly being asked not to.

It's not the time to bring it up. Pointless.

I honestly thought this was a new Dougie Hamilton thread with rumours about him and why he didn't fit in or something.....
I was WAY wrong.
Sorry Mr Emery. I hope they find him alive and well.

Well ####.
This sounds so stupid. A professional athlete drowning while swimming?
Really sad.
EDIT: just got the score alert. Yup. Confirmed.
What a shame.

RIP Mr. Emery. I'm surprised he was only 35. Way too young.
Emery was chosen 99th overall by the National Hockey League (NHL) Ottawa Senators in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. During the 2006–07 season, he led the Ottawa Senators to the Stanley Cup finals. It was the Senators' first appearance in the finals since 1927. His teammates and fans often referred to him as "Razor" or "Sugar Ray" for his aggressive playing style. He won a Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013.
Emery finished the season with a 1.94 goals against average and a 0.922 save percentage. His 17 wins included 12 straight to start the year, the best such streak in NHL history. Emery is a two-time Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy finalist for his dedication and perseverance.

Sounds like he struck his head or something when diving in?
Quote:
"They went out for a swim and unfortunately he did not emerge after diving in," police Inspector Marty Schulenberg told The Hamilton Spectator. "We responded along with Hamilton Fire and EMS. Unfortunately, our efforts on the water and in the area just around the piers were met with negative results."

Terrible and sad news. RIP. One of the most fiery goalies to play in a long time. Plus he had one of the all time greatest helmets for any goalie(the various boxers montage).

Never met the guy but he dated my girlfriends roomate back in 2005 or 2006 I can't remember. Anyways it was the summer and he had told her he was traded to Calgary and had to move so he had to break up with her. She was devastated. I didn't have the heart to tell her that he was never traded. I'm sure she figured it out though.
