When you spend half the first period on the PK you need to be smarter than that. If the other 5 calls were made, that's going to get called. Luckily it was missed.

It wasn't missed. It was ignored. That's not a crackdown penalty. His defensive holding and slashing penalties were.

Hamilton's crosscheck (offensive zone - undisciplined) and Gaudreau's delay of game (brainfart) were worse. So was Versteeg's faceoff penalty (should have known better). Bennett's calls were pretty much like the slashing call Brodie got and the hooking call Stone got.

When I think of bad, undisciplined penalties, I tend to think of selfish retaliations (like Gudbrandson's), or lazy plays, especially in the offensive zone (like Bennett had a lot at the beginning of last season)

Not intended to be a knock on Jagr, but a guy who missed all of camp, hasn't played hockey since April except for the recent couple weeks, is our best option for top line RW at this current time. Kind of concerning.

It's Jaromir Freakin' Jagr!

(I'm psyched because my jersey came in the mail yesterday)

Don't think its concerning yet, they showed some chemistry last game. The concern will be is if one of the RW get injured Jagr/Frolik/Ferland what will happen.

Jagr might make me eat my words (hope so) but putting him on the top line to me is just ridiculous and looks desperate

It really depends on how well the Flames can get in and hold the zone long enough for him to get into the play. My problem with it is that Jagr and Mony are both not fast skaters which leaves Johnny waiting too much. I would rather see Bennett tried in Monahan's spot to give that line two good skaters.

Jagr is a good fit. He is good at keeping pucks alive and working down low. Plus he can finish when Johnny sets him up.

@Fan960Steinberg: Looks like Micheal Ferland back in tonight. Curtis Lazar, Freddie Hamilton, and Brett Kulak will sit out. #Flames

Jagr is still a top notch player and unfortunately he is the best option on the top line. It's not desperation, it's lack of talent on the right side. When you have little cap space, it is hard to fix that.

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if the Flames add someone else on the right side as well towards the playoffs.

Ferland has been a complete non-factor. Not many other options.

Yep, besides the tiny gas tank Jagr has shown he still has the hands and the vision so he should be a good fit on that line. Probably better than the 3rd line where he and Versteeg seemed almost redundant with their play.
