Raise your hand if you had Genie Bouchard as the first Canadian to record a main draw win once play resumed.

Leylah is into the main draw and her opening round opponent is Sloane Stephens.
Canada's Leylah Fernandez has advanced to the main draw at the Top Seed Open.
The 17-year-old Fernandez downed Australia's Arina Rodionova 6-2, 6-3 on Monday to advance to the tournament's main draw through qualifiers.
The teenager from Montreal secured the match in one hour 20 minutes.

Well, Serena just beat her older sister Venus at the Top Seed Open in Lexington, Kentucky which means that if Leylah can get by Shelby Rogers later today, she will play Serena on Friday.

Tough to know for sure, to be honest. She has posted videos of training sessions which would seem to indicate that her knee injury has healed, but we've been teased previously like that in the past only for her to pull out of competition.

I found a youtube live stream of the Leylah Fernandez - Shelby Rogers match if interested. Hopefully, the quality improves (pretty grainy currently)
Edit: Better quality stream.

Well rats, Rogers advances to face Serena tomorrow dispatching Leylah 6-2 7-5. Not a high quality of tennis for Leylah today, way too many unforced errors. It was a very hot day out there which likely had something to do with it.

Millman who previously expressed concerns about travelling to New York and playing tennis is impressed with the prep work that has been done at Flushing Meadows.
