^ I agree
Fells like they are somehow managing to squeeze 60 minutes of action into a 90 minutes episode.

It’s glaring how much better this show is than Amazing Race Canada. The ridiculous product placement crap in Canada version, the actual challenges, just so boring.

Heh. I was thinking exactly the opposite.
The Canadian race is so much faster pace. Watching the teams slog through a swamp/arrange flowers for an hour of on air time is really not great television. Or watching a massage for 45 minutes last week.

My big preference on this version is not having everyone collect at the end of every leg(or halfway through). It's nice to see the leaders advantage carry through, so the best racers can still make one mistake and not end up eliminated, while another worthless team gets endless freebees with non-elimination legs...

I found Justine and Jermaine entertaining but yeah it's insane they took two penalties and lasted another third of the race.

I am enjoying this show, with the international locations, more than the Canadian version.

However, the 90 minute format is just not working. Wayyyyy too much of the tasks. Once the first few teams made it to the mat, I fast forwarded to the final 5 minutes to see who lost.

"I think my hair caught on fire. I was mad."

This week, the teams race to Vietnam and it isn't a non-elimination leg because they don't have those anymore it's just a leg where no one was eliminated. I guess it was technically a mega-leg, although it wasn't called that.

We also got some travel drama for the first time in years... that was immediately cancelled out by an hours of operation bottleneck. The more things change...
  1. Steve & Anna Leigh
  2. Joel & Garrett
  3. Rob & Corey
  4. Ashlie & Todd
  5. Robbin & Chelsea
  6. Morgan & Lena
  7. Joe & Ian
  8. Greg & John
  9. Malaina & Andrea
  10. Jocelyn & Victor
  11. Liam & Yeremi
  12. Elizabeth & Iliana
  13. Alexandra & Sheridan

Next week, the leg continues in Vietnam and someone might get eliminated.

Not too bad of a leg. I always like the start of the show and the race-off, to see how long the time difference was. Almost and hour between first and third.

I was impressed with Malaina & Andrea today, blowing through that rice paper challenge because they smartly used their down time waiting for an oven.

I'm wondering how a 5:45 timeslot ended up in the 6:00 slot. Did someone (racers or crew) screw up and put it there (since one of the first teams handled them all) or was there a bone being thrown to a team who looked at everything? At any rate, Nice to see Steve & Anna Leigh find and use it to catapult up.

These 90 min eps really to feel too long though, even watching them later, without commercials.

I'm started watching the show in the background the next day while I work which is new for me. they just drag so much in the middle with the new length.

Yeah, the new length does nothing for the show. It's boring to watch them spend a long, long time on a task. I'm recording it and once I see them start something, I will fast forward it.

I did like the airport drama. You're always going to hours of operation bunching, because it's hard to coordinate if the teams get separated by too much. Plus it ruins the "drama."

Right? Brutal. And this was with 11 teams left so there’s still some chaotic energy to help a fraction. How are they gonna drag this out when there’s 5 or 6 teams? And then after sitting through all of that no one even gets eliminated, a promise that they waffle on again. Not sure I can stick with this…

So this will be 3 hours of TV racing before an elimination. Super lame. If I watch this for an hour and a half I kinda expected a team to get cut.

It's a bit of a cop out too when they say 'no non elimination legs' and then have a surprise mega leg

A pretty snoozy leg, esp at 90 minutes. That format does this show no favors...especially when the tasks are as snoozy as they were this week. They might have been able to do something interesting with the fish-arranging, but they didn't...so we got to watch a bunch of people run around with mattresses and struggle up and down stairs.

Then we got to watch a bunch of people run around a huge temple ground, except we had no idea of where they needed to go. They could have at least given us some overhead shots with how near or far the contestants were from the tiles they were seeking.

Sad to see Jocelyn and Victor go, but they've really struggled this leg.

I was impressed with Andrea's drive through the fish arranging part, pushing Malaina through her squick issues.

The brothers also impressed, jumping from last to mid.

"It'll be fine. I've broken my fingers all the time."

  8. Greg & John
  9. Joel & Garrett
  10. Morgan & Lena
  11. Jocelyn & Victor
