It's dumb to try to do it with low quality garbage though. All of their food is tragic. Even their ham and swiss sandwich is bad. I mean how the #### do you mess up a ham and swiss sandwich? Tim's found out that you do it by going as cheap as possible and ignoring any inclination towards quality in their ingredients.

A couple of decades ago I would get a veggie burger here and there from Harvey’s. I recall it being pretty good, and this was long before the recent uptick in plant based burgers trying to emulate meat.

I had some Beyond Meat when free samples were given, and it was nasty and salty. Yuck.

For sure, that's what I meant. They blew it big time, like embarrassingly bad. But I was responding (actually I forgot to quote) to the guy that said they should just stick to what made them popular.

It appears that what made them popular was only killing it for them in limited time periods in the mornings, and they had to diversify. But yeah, they diversified by leaving the lid off a blender with a piece of **** inside.

It would have been better if they just closed before noon imo.

Weird. I've had Beyond Burgers several times and I've always really liked them. Is it a different product in Canada than the U.S.? Is this just a "Tim Hortons finds a way to ruin good food" thing?

They're not bad at other retailers or grocery stores. Just Tim Hortons ruining things

Like their doughnuts, they probably pre-cook them in Ontario, freeze them, ship them around then they get microwaved. mmmm.

Do one or two things, and do it well. Tim Hortons should be focusing on making the best damn coffee and pastries they can. It doesn't have to be high end by any means, just ensure the experience is dependable and efficient.

There isn’t any pushback though. A Tim Hortons is a license to print money. Doesn’t matter if the food or coffee is bad. People are crazy for the stuff.

Never could wrap my head around this beyond meat hype, it was invented years ago as food for pets with meat allergies.

Yum, fried dog food with seasoning salt

Way to be a reductionist. That's surely helpful.

Have you even tried them? I'm wary of vegetarian food pretending to be meat, but I would say that you wouldn't really notice the difference between that and real meat if nobody told you.

Anything to reduce (not eliminate) meat consumption is a good thing for your health, and the planet.

Well that used to be the case. I think that things are changing because there is a lot more competition for that market than there was a decade ago. There are also a lot of increased pressures on franchise owners. I realise they still make money, but it's not what it once was.

Talk about reductionist. Anything to reduce meat consumption? You can't even say Beyond Meat is better for you than meat. It's generally considered a once in a while food. Like meat.

I'm stunned this was a flop. Absolutely stunned that people wouldn't be lining up with money in hand for burgers featuring microwaved, processed vegetable patties.

On the bright side, the lady behind the counter at Tims this morning was all excited about the new lids they now have that don't require a straw when you get an ice coffee. There's a bit of an irony in how the company is phasing out the plastic straw while still giving you a cup and lid that is nothing but single-use plastic itself.
