All three levels of government are also looking for some sort of affirmation that this plan will even go through. Don't hold your breath is all I'm saying.

And even once some kind of deal gets done, it's 4-5 years till it opens anyway.

On the part that does not involve Tsuu T'ina obstruction, I see the overhead signs are going up all along the SE portion. Still a ways to go, however, as I'm not sure what they are doing or how far along they are at the old 114 Avenue. New 114 Avenue is ready though.

Dont count on the SW portion being built anytime soon. But along 22X to 24 street you can assume that will be completed. But getting north on the West portion of the Ring Road is likely 20+ years away given the current demands.

Peigan Trail looks ready to open across Stoney Trail.

YYC Engineer on SSP says that it's supposed to open tomorrow, with the Glenmore Trail connection to 84th Street permanently closing within a couple of weeks.

I also took 114th east from 84th to the detour at around 102nd a few days ago. They had us using the new road, and the overpass looks to be all done and ready to go.

Does anybody know if the October 2013 date is just for the new roadway to be open? Or is everything supposed to be done by then? I just think the overpasses for Deerfoot still need some bridge spans, and I would have thought traffic would be going over the bridge at Cranston by now.

Peigan Trail is open all the way to 84th St, as of this afternoon. 84th Street will be permanently disconnected from Glenmore Trail as of this coming Friday evening.

Does anyone know if they will be opening the new bridge on glenmore over stony when they close 84th street, or do we still have to do the windy road thing?

Basically this is how I have to get to work now:

The detour will be in place will a bit yet, though I imagine that they will try to do the required grading as quickly as possible.

Depending on where you are coming from, you could also try the newly opened Peigan to 84th, or up 84th from 114th Ave, then east on Venture Ave to 100th St, then rejoin that route you posted.

I may try Peigan depending on how it goes next week. Glenmore > Deerfoot N > Peigan Trail > 84 St S I live really close to Glenmore trail, so really Glenmore was/is the most direct route for me. 114 is still a big mess, so I am thinking I would rather avoid that area.

Yeah, that might be faster than deerfoot. Will have to do some experimenting.

Perhaps I should make a spreadsheet...

So for me I have found EB Glenmore > NB Deerfoot > EB Peigan > SB 84th Street is the best way in the mornings.

Afternoon I go the same way back but it takes about twice as long.

I tried going 61st ave to 100st to WB Glenmore, but 100th st by heather glen is F'ed completely now. That intersection is not built to handle that much traffic. There is no right turn lane, so the traffic just builds up. Took about a half hour to get through there at 4:30.

Taking deerfoot and peigan means that I skip the mess at glenmore and ogden where the train tracks are. Usually at 6:30am there is a huge line of traffic on EB Glenmore because of a train. So going to 52nd to go north to Peigan doesn't make sense to me. I just cut that whole part out and go north on Deerfoot. Plus, 52nd is a gong show of a road. I'm on deerfoot for only a couple of km, so it;s pretty easy.

The new Peigan extension is nice. Not many people are using it yet. They tried to install temporary traffic lights at the intersection, but I take it that a lot of people complained since they re-installed human traffic lights there on Friday.

Temporary traffic lights looking NB on 84th at Peigan

Traffic because of temporary lights

Installation of human traffic lights at the intersection. It take 6 people to control this intersection which is mind bottling to me how much it costs an hour to run this intersection.

Traffic at Peigan and 52nd sucks as well, especially for people going NB on 52nd. Traffic as far as the eye can see.
WB traffic will be greatly helped when they install a RH turn lane.

Intersection looking WB on Peigan at 52nd. Not a soul coming EB (although it was end of the day).

Yes, it seems like they have gone back to using flag people during evening rush, for sure. During the day, the lights have been working fine.

Does anyone know when they'll be upgrading 22x between 37th and Chapparel? Is that part of the never gonna happen SW portion?

Correct. Never.

Ric McIver was supposed to be the saviour, but there hasn't been a peep about it since he was made the transportation minister.

It doesn't seem like he's done much for the SE LRT either.

I just realized that I'm asking about a portion much bigger than what needs immediate upgrades. It's just the section over McLeod that I'm wondering about. There needs to be a second bridge so that E/W traffic each get two (or three?) lanes.

A temporary fix will be done this summer to put 2 lanes each way over the existing bridge.
