I think Gaudreau's goal yesterday showed the difference between the Johnny of last year and the Johnny now. It seemed along the way Johnny became a bit hesistant using his shot and last year he probably waits for the trailing Monahan rather than pulling the trigger. This year he's been letting it fly more often then not but still is racking up the assists. He's already scored 30 goals in a season and if he keeps shooting this confidently I see no reason why he can't break 40.

Just re-watched AC's compilation of Gaudreau last season and the amount of slashes this guy got on a regular basis is crazy, pretty much every other highlight you could find a slash. I really think the new slashing rule has benefited Johnny more than anyone, it now seems like teams have nothing else to use to stop him. We are extremely lucky we get to watch this guy rip the league apart for the next 5 seasons, he's truly amazing.

During the Philly game Cassie spoke about what Gaudreau was doing different this year. Last year he was extremely predictable and would always button hook when he entered the zone. This year he is taking the open space into the middle of the ice putting him better scoring areas. It also has made him less predictable which in turn is giving him more time.
