He returned last week, and has played 4 games since his return. He has a goal and an assist in those 4 games.
On the season, he has 3 points in 5 games so far.

I don't think he is first line center yet. Still 2nd behind mauermann.

What was his injury? Sounds like a fairly serious chronic problem if it's the same one kept him out of action in development camp in July.

His most recent injury was a shoulder injury. A hip injury kept him out of development camp.

Matt DeBlouw was drafted by the Flames for his defensive and faceoff skills. They were thinking of him as a Stephane Yelle kind of player who was good in faceoff, shut down type of guy and if his offense click, it is going to be a bonus. So, 3rd or 4th line centre.

It's a little late, but here's the weekly NCAA Round-up. All four teams with Flames prospects were in action twice on the weekend.
COLGATE:
The Raiders played two road games on the weekend. They lost 5-0 at Quinnipiac on Friday night. Harrison had no points, was a -2, and took one penalty. On Saturday, they travelled to Princeton and won 5-1. Harrison had a power play assist on Colgate's third goal.
MICHIGAN STATE:
The Spartans travelled to New Hampshire to play a two-game series against UNH. They won Friday's game 4-3 and lost Saturday's 5-2. DeBlouw had no points and no penalties in the two games.
BOSTON UNIVERSITY:
The Terriers travelled across town to take on Boston College on Friday night. BU won the game 5-3. Jack Eichel had one goal and was a +3. Hickey had 2 assists, including one on the game winner and finished the night +1. Hickey was named the third star in the game.
On Saturday, the Terriers hosted Connecticut. The game ended in a 4-4 tie. Eichel had 3 assists on the night. Hickey had no points, but finished the night with a +2.
PROVIDENCE:
The Friars played a home-and-home series with Merrimack on the weekend. Friday's game was at Providence and the Friars won 3-2. Gillies faced 27 shots. Both of Merrimack's goals were scored on the PP. Gilmour had no points. Jankowski had an assist on the GWG. Both Jankowski and Gilmour finished the game +1.
Saturday night, the teams met again at Merrimack. This one ended in a 1-0 Friars' loss. Gillies stopped 33 shots and was named the game's third star despite the loss. Needless to say, Jankowski and Gilmour had no points. Jankowski had a -1, and Gilmour was even.
The Season to Date:
Harrison: 3G/3A in 10 games played. He has 2 game winners and 2 power play goals. He now has one more point than he scored in 34 games last season.
Deblouw: 1G in 8 games played, but it was a GWG.
Hickey: 3A in 7 games played. +7 overall, but only 3 players on the team have minus ratings.
Jankowski: 1G/2A in 5 games played. Providence continues to be a low-scoring team, and the team leader only has 5 points.
Gilmour: 2A in 5 games played.
Gillies: 3-4-1 record so far this season. Has played all but 20 minutes of Providence's games this year. 2.57 GAA and 0.917 SV% are the worst of his college career so far. Has stopped 132 shots in his last 4 starts. Was named Hockey East defensive player of the week over the Halloween weekend. Low-scoring team in front of him has made wins hard to come by even if he has a strong game.
So far, Tim Harrison has been the breakout performer for the Flames NCAA prospects this season. Hickey appears to be having a strong freshman season too.
The Weekly polls have looked good for BU and not so good for Providence. This week's USCHO.com poll has BU at #3, Colgate at #6, and Providence has dropped to #16. The USA Today poll also has BU at 3, Colgate at 6, and PC is just off their top 15 ranking.

DeBlouw scores his second of the season, getting one past Thatcher Demko. Always nice to see a Flames pick score on a Canucks pick.

Jankowski 15 for 22 in the dot. No one took more faceoffs for either team. Nice to see that he's adding that aspect to his game.
His two assists move him into a tie for second on the team in points, and a tie for first in assists. That's also having played three fewer games than most of the team.
Gillies' shutout adds to his Providence team record, which is now at 10. It will also help bring his stats more in line with his first two seasons. He has now allowed 2 or fewer goals in 6 of his 9 starts on the season.
Jankowski was first star in the game and Gillies was second star.

The rest of the Flames Friday night NCAA action...
Michigan State lost 3-2 to Boston College. Matt DeBlouw scored his second goal of the season and had 5 shots on net in the game. He was 8 for 19 in the dot.
In brothers of Flames news: Matthew Gaudreau scored his second goal of the season in only his 4th game of the year for Boston College, and was named first star of the game.
Colgate defeated St. Lawrence 5-2. Harrison was kept off the score sheet.
Boston University defeated Maine 3-1. Hickey had no points and was a -1. Jack Eichel continued his hot start with another 2 point game, 1G(EN)/1A. Eichel has not been kept off the score sheet yet this season. He is one point off a 2PPG pace, with 15 points in 8 games.

Saturday's games were pretty uneventful. MSU and BU didn't play. Colgate played Clarkson to a 2-2 tie, but Harrison didn't play in the game.
Providence hosted Vermont for the second night in a row. Vermont won 2-1. Jankowski and Gilmour were both -1. Gillies stopped 29 of 31 shots and was named second star of the game.
It's been five games in a row where Gillies has allowed 2 or fewer goals against. Unfortunately, Providence is 3-2-0 in those five games.

Good night for the Flames' NCAA prospects.
Providence won over Army 3-0, Gillies with a 22 save shutout. He had a rough start to the year but has rebounded, getting his record up to .500 and now has 2 shutouts (club record 11 career). 2.05 GAA and .932 SV% now on the year.
John Gilmour scored a powerplay goal in the 2nd period, and had 4 shots.
Unfortunately, Jankowski was sick and didn't play.
Boston University lost 3-2 in overtime to Harvard, despite outshooting them 42-24. Brandon Hickey had an assist, finished +1, and had 7(!) shots.

Every scouting report I read points to a player with all the tools but no direction. The higher levels should help harness that. Outside of Bennett I'm most excited about him from this past draft. The others, meh (maybe Carroll)

IIRC he sounds a lot like Brodie as a general comparison of style.

Yep, they're both great skaters that are good defensively but lack a physical edge.

werent people saying hickey looked as good as kulak at the prospect camp? pretty impressive for an 18 year old to play like that when kulak has been a force in juniors and having a few camps under his belt. im liking that pick along with the rafikov one for our future back end.

Gotta be a considerable statement of Hickey's abilities if he's relied on that much as a freshman for a contender, no?
