You're right. I thought it was supposed to be a traditional dam and reservoir but it is not.

It has Trout and Pike, and supposedly Whitefish and Perch but I've never seen them there. I've only ever fished using a spinner.
I'm personally hoping to catch trout.

I find spinners or spoons to be the best. I've tried using worms and leeches and mealworms and smelts before, but never once have I caught anything with them.
The top fish there, I caught at the Glenmore Reservoir using a spoon. Five of diamonds I think it was. ####ty picture, but it was a brown trout.
Same with this pike. Caught it using a jig.

I drive over the Ivor Strong bridge regularly and see people fishing, I thought they were just harmless weirdos and hobos.
I wish I liked to fish. I just dont.

You can't use bait in Glenmore (drinking water) but you can in other lakes.

Actually, I believe bait is allowed, just not dead bait fish (such as minnows).
The weird wrinkle to that is that per the regs smelt is apparently not a bait fish?
Either way, trout like to eat insects (though they like worms, their mouths are often too small for your gigantic nightcrawler type work) and pike will bite on spinners or jig heads with rubber lures on them. I've never had much luck in the reservoir, but don't know if I would try bait right off the bat anyway.
Another reason to use lures in the res is that there isn't so much fish there that people should be taking their limit out of the lake every day. Obviously you can keep your limit if you want to, but there is an argument to be made for catching and releasing so that everyone gets to share in the fun. On that note, if you think there is a chance you might want to release the fish, it's best not to use bait as they can swallow your hook and their odds of surviving that are very slim.

Yes, you have it right:
Glenmore Reservoir
May 1 to Oct. 31 – Trout limit 5; Mountain Whitefish limit 5 over 30 cm; Pike limit 3 (no size limit); Perch limit 15; Bait fish not allowed.
Nov. 1 to Apr. 30 – CLOSED

That trout limit is funny. If anyone can catch 5 trout in a day in the reservoir I will give you $20.
I've also never heard of anyone catching perch in there, but I suppose anything's possible.

Sorry I don't remember, was from a few years ago. It went to a great cause! I have piranhas and hermit crabs and they both love fish. There's no size restrictions from the Glenmore Reservoir re: pike, so I brought it home. Only Pike I've ever caught from there actually.
Heading out there Sunday. Can't wait. Going to rain. Hope it's not too brutal.

Sweet, we will be out on our kayaks Sunday too, should be fun. Will belly fishing and if not luck I'll switch back to spoons and other Pike type things.
Hopefully no rain!

Was fishing by Earl Grey, second time ever fishing. Caught a 26" burbot. Never heard of it before, weird looking fish, almost like a salamander with fins. Supposedly theyre quite tasty, but I dont eat flesh so I gave him to my friend. Tried to put him back but he swallowed the hook pretty good. Felt pretty barbaric mashing its head with a rock. I don't think I'll go fishing again, kind of boring, and cruel if you catch something.
