Well yeah, and geese, ducks, good thing we have a water treatment plant.
They go to great length to try to protect the drinking water supply. You or your dog can't swim in there, and someone suggests powerboats?

The river collects that stuff throughout it's journey to the reservoir. Not to mention all sorts of agricultural run off and chemicals from the golf courses up stream.

I didn't suggest anything at all. I simply answered your question.

Human effluent would all be filtered via a septic system, no one is dumping raw sewage into the Elbow River. Very little agricultural activity west of the city. The water in the reservoir is pretty pristine.

Sorry didn't mean to imply that you did, it was calgarygeologist's suggestion.

Ha! Good ol lasers! Haven't heard that name in a while. My parents have an old Invitation sitting in their backyard. I should really get that outta there for them and rig it up.

The Elbow River flows through campgrounds, the Town of Bragg Creek, Redwood Meadows, the Tsuu Tina Nation, Springbank. There are cattle and beavers in the watershed. I don't know if it is pristine?

All of which would be using septic systems for their wastewater. Cattle and beaver matter is easily treated in the treatment plant, I am not suggesting drinking untreated water from the reservoir.
I just think the notion of using outboards on your drinking water source, is a little absurd. Water treatment isn't very good at getting rid of hydrocarbons.

Mine is one of the oldest ones around, hull number 1478 so I figured it was worth a bit of work. I think it's from the early '70's.
Get that Invitation running, I remember seeing a few of those around back in the day.

The allow motorized boats on Ghost which supplies North Calgary with water. I don't know if the Bowness/Tuscany water treatment plant is any different than the Glenmore plant.

The treatment plant is Bearspaw, not Ghost, but I concede that is downstream of Ghost anyway.

The Bow has a lot higher flow rate and Ghost is huge, cold and not in a city of a million people. Open up Glenmore to motor boats and it would be packed with all manner of crap. Not to mention all the garbage that would end up in it from idiots. People are to dumb for the privilege.

Are you suggesting that you have never pooped in the Glenmore reservoir? And you expect us to beleive that?

Hopefully the new Springbank reservoir will be boat friendly.

I thought that would only have water in flood situations?

actually makes perfect sense.
Should turn the land into a boat storage yard. When it floods, BOOM, instantly ready to go.
