Icon41 San Jose Sharks Discussion Thread

Okay, this needs its own thread I think. That team is epically bad. Vancouver scored as many goals on them yesterday in one game as their team has scored all season. They're in the running for worst in several categories. Watching them yesterday, and periods of other games, they look like they're playing in the wrong league right now.

What is going to happen there? I can't help thinking they can't just stay the course as if all is just peachy.

Their next four games are against the Penguins, Flyers, Oilers, and Knights. Predictions?

We all knew they were going to finish dead last before the season started. I don't see what is thread worthy here.

Edmonton Oilers Discussion Thread

Okay, this needs its own thread I think. That team is especially bad. They're in the running for worst in several categories. They look like they're playing in the wrong league right now.

I'll be interested in March attendance figures from San Jose.

Just how much abuse can you subject an NHL fanbase to, in a non hockey market, before the floor falls out.

(Coyotes say Hi!)

Intentionally bad Sharks vs unintentionally bad Flames. If the rest of the season follows the pattern after 10 games then there will be a lot of interest around here regarding what the Sharks are doing.

Seems weird to fail for Celebrini though. Both teams really should have done this a year earlier.

Pretty sure that's already on the tenth thread. And that tenth thread has over 8000 comments.

It doesn't help that Vlasic fell of the cliff. Not unusual for a defenseman at around 36 years old, but San Jose invested into these later years. I think he still has a few more seasons left at a $7 million cap hit.

But they know what they are doing. They are bottoming out to rebuild and aren't holding back.

I expected them to be bad. I did not expect what I've been watching.

Mind you, I could say the same for a certain other team......

I don’t know the first thing about their system, but they’ve been bad for a while and made some moves to bring in more picks and prospects over the last few years. You’d think they would have at least a few good young guys they could call up who could drag them out of the pit.

The Flames also have a secret weapon that they don’t in Tank Commander Huberdeau, and with basically no meaningful help coming on the horizon, I anticipate it’ll be a battle for the toilet bowl all season long.

I have absolutely zero empathy. The Sharks and Ducks can both suck it, I hope they’re terrible forever

They haven’t had enough high picks. Only 4 and 7 for the last 7 years. The rest have been late picks

I've watched way more coyotes hockey this year than flames. They are an exciting (and well managed) team

They would've picked 3rd in 2020, too

Bet Hertl wishes he didn’t sign for 8 years there.

If (I mean when) Sanjo wins their first against the Coilers. It will deserve its own ATL.

And yet, as bad as they are this season, they’ll begin to lap other teams that refuse to acknowledge the reality of their own futility.

The Sharks are taking the most efficient path they possibly can this season.
