Yeah Boeser just doesn't make any sense. He's making way too much, he hasn't been good this season, and the Flames don't have room for him without moving a guy like Lucic (which they probably can't).

Lucic + Dube + conditional 2nd that becomes a 1st if the Flames make it to the 2nd round
For
Boeser
Call up Phillips
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Toffoli
Mangiapane - Kadri - Boeser
Coleman - Backlund - Phillips
Rooney - Ruzicka - Ritchie/Lewis
Obviously that’s an unlikely trade but it’s about as much as I’d be willing to pay with the Flames taking the majority of the risk. At the end of the day the 6+ mill price tag is unattractive to say the least and I don’t see the fit for Calgary.

The PA felt that such conditions could potentially reduce the number of suitors for a player, so they took it out in the 2020 MOU

With where the Flames are at capwise and who they have committed long term conteacts to. I can’t see them making moves this season outside of bringing in a rental with 20-30 games left if they are in the playoff hunt.
I personally think the are a goal scoring winger away from being an extremely good team. Minus that player I still think they could do damage if they get in and get hot.

This hurts the cap for next year (a lot) and costs us a pick. And does it make the team any better? I don't think so. There is no reason to trade for Boeser.

To me, Boeser needs a change of scenery but people have to realize when he's mentally not been there for a couple seasons (for good reason), he's likely not been there physically as well to a pro level. For him to turn it around all of a sudden just by virtue of being in another city, is a pipe dream. I'd further argue that he's not destined to do much else this year and if he were to be traded here it would further deteriorate his mental health when he inevitably doesn't live up to expectations. The Flames at this point need to bring in someone who can fly, from a team gunning for the bottom. Not sure it's even possible, but Keller fits the bill from Arizona. Not sure he's worth the cost it'd likely take but I'd love to see more speed. I'd probably deal Mangiapane and Dube, but not much more.

AZ isn't moving Keller and they certainly wouldn't do it for just Mangiapane and Dube — he's a core piece.
If you're dealing with AZ, Nick Schmaltz is the target. But I think you'd be remiss to give up more futures before testing your internal promotion candidates first.

If there’s a Boeser trade to be found, there’s an understanding internally that the return will be relatively pedestrian. That’s true too for players like Garland, Pearson and Myers.

I can't imagine there'd be any return for Myers

Boeser plays a lot like Toffoli IMO. Do we really need another slowish sniper with decentish two way ability?
And the proposed lines with a 0.9 ppg player on the 4th line are silly.
I'm hopeful the plan is to sell off some deadweight and promote from within. Fellas like Dube, Lucic and Rooney should all be replaceable with some farm talent.

What about Max Domi? He’s a sutter type player, he’s fast and skilled, cheap, gunna get traded at deadline, if he goes to Edm he’s a ppg player with either of their two top C’s and we’d hate to play against him. He’d be a great add and I was hoping we’d get him via free agency but deadline would make me happy too.

Recently yeah. I wouldn't trade Dube for a mediocre return, but I'd be okay shipping him in a package for a top 6, scoring winger. He's so inconsistent as a top 6 player, to the point where he can bury you if he's not producing at the wrong time (playoff push/playoffs).
If we're really pushing our chips in as Brad Treliving has indicated with his signings, then we need a better top 6 this season, full stop. This is not a contending forward group. It could be, but at the very least we need 3 or 4 forwards pushed down a spot by an acquisition of a top 6, goal scorer, or I simply don't think we have what it takes this season. And then we're down a full season in a short window of expensive guys in their prime.

I totally wanted to get Domi or a move to get Konecny as well. Unfortunately Tre only swipes right to guys over 6ft tall.

Of course.
Every time a team over the cap is about to get in trouble they have a significant injury to help the situation.

Yes, and inevitably someone with a big contract that gives the team enough cap relief to bring someone back conveniently at the same time who was previously on LTIR (funny how coincidental the timing of these injuries is), and always someone who has been underperforming their contract.
