Why? Which name won the poll?
I thought it was pretty clear from the list that was released that Elk was going to win because all the others were awful or already the name of a professional football team (Elk, Evergreens, Evergolds, Eclipse, Elkhounds, Eagles and Elements).

I think Elk, Evergreens or Golden Eagles (native to Alberta) all would have been ok.

I still think Empire would have been the best choice. I'm sure we will get used to it over time but it just doesn't roll off the tongue and is kind of meh.

I think the S is the same height as the E and L. The descender on the K is lower, so it makes the S look shorter.

I like it. I dislike Edmonton as much as the next guy, but lets give them some credit. Getting rid of the old name was the right thing to do. The name will grow on people I think.

It's ok, not the worst imo.
I think the main thing they wanted was the double E as before and something that rhymed with Esks, so the Elks.
No more eskimos though. Thats great.
