The Wranglers are within striking distance of first in the division as well as conference, with games in hand.

By points percentage, they're first in the Division, first in the Conference, and third overall.
Only one team has scored more goals than the Wranglers and only 2 have allowed fewer.

After a slow start, the Wranglers look like the championship contender many of us thought they could be.
Wolf is such a huge part of that. With his early track record, he's genuinely one of the greatest young goaltenders the AHL has ever seen. The hope is that he can translate that into NHL excellence.

Seems like a pretty wild 3rd period. Klapka ties it up, then two SHGs on the same PK. Looking forward to the highlights!
40 shots against Wolf is too much though, Ontario had 20 shots in the first. Wolf can handle it ofc but not the best strategy for winnin.

The wild thing is that Wolf plays awesome when he faces >35 shots and <25. My expectations for him can not be any higher haha, really want him to get a couple of games this year to show everyone how insanely good he is

Id love to see him get a start or two as well, unfortunately, I think the only way Wolf sees any NHL playing time this year is if Markstrom gets injured, or a team offers Treliving an offer he Can’t refuse for Vladar…

Legit question/concern. Both markstrom and Vladar are signed for at least two more seasons after this one, I believe Wolf is good enough to be the back up even right now. When do we trade one of the goalies and who?
Trading Vladar is the obvious option and ideally we trade him while his value is still high and not when/if he starts loosing games, we call up Wolf and trade Vladar
Is there a possibility for us to trade Markstrom? He has a NMC so would he have to waive it? If this trade happens it would have to be after this season. In an ideal world I would prefer this option but it has obvious cons that will prevent this from happening

Good problem to have... But yes, I see what you're saying.
I actually think they run back markstrom vladar 1 more year. Nothing wrong with Wolf doing 3 full seasons in the AHL. It's quite possible he gets a little taste of NHL in that time frame due to injury.
Then you re-assess. What is vladar's outlook at that point? Future starter or career backup?
What is markstrom who will have 2 years left at that point? An elite goalie who keeps on ticking or is he fading?
Is wolf still the elite prospect he is now? Funny enough, that is the one I'm most confident in.
In my mind, if all 3 have positive outlooks, you move vladar and start The Wolf understudy process.
If Wolf and vladar are positive, but markstrom is fading, you buyout Markstrom. Don't think he's movable in that spot. The buyout is not a disaster... 4 years at 1.67
If vladar looks like more of a backup at that point, you eat his last year in the minors and he can backup for sergeev so we can start getting a look at Wolf.
If everyone sucks, we're probably in a rebuild anyway, so keep them all and suck away.

Sooner or later, either Markstrom or Vladar is going to get injured. And then Wolf will be called up and they will get a chance to see him in the NHL.
Absolutely no way they trade Vladar or Markstrom until they have seen Wolf face NHL shooters. If he spends his 22 year old season in the AHL, I don't see a problem with that.

Exactly, if they did it right, they bring him up for a few games here and there against lower tier teams, get that confidence boost, back down to keep the confidence up and training.
Even though he is amazing even now, I find the Wranglers are putting too much on him, they know they can be out of position and he will be able to back them up instead of it being the other way around. He is a young guy and needs a proper orientation to the NHL, not what the flames normally do to their young good players.

Dansk, moreso than Wolf, is your likely injury callup if it's just to sit on the bench.
Wolf can over-marinate in the AHL this season and next.

Not exactly “Wrangler” related but AHL related.
Last week, we saw Alan Quine come through with the Ontario Reign. However, I just noticed that he is on the Canada Spengler Cup roster. I thought to be eligible for the Team Canada Spengler Cup team, you need to be Canadian and on one of the European league teams…
Are AHL Contract players eligible for the Spengler Cup? Or would he may be “on loan” to a euro team…
