Congrats on a brilliant career! Couldn't happen to a nicer or funnier guy. I just hope he keeps up his twitter profile going forward. His feed is a gold mine.

sureLoss, can you clarify if the Panthers get hit with any recapture penalty as well?

I believe the Panthers are hit with $1 million for 3 years, working to confirm

Always liked his personality but he was a dirty Canuck for so many years.
Still all in all, a really solid career.

Are you kidding? SureLoss already told us and we're already laughing at the Canucks.

Would this be the first instance of a team actually being hit with recapture penalties?

Kind of funny that a guy I hated for so long would become so likeable in the end.

And he sort of puts the screws to the Canucks on the way out.

Hero.

I really hope that re-capture penalty doesn't prevent the Canucks from going hard after Tyler Myers

Also congrats to Luongo on a great career - wasn't a fan of him during his time in Vancouver but really did a great job of re-building his image in Florida once he let his more comedic side come through.

There is a penalty to both the Canucks and Panthers.

The Canucks get the larger penalty because they received the most benefit due to the back diving contract.

Seravalli said 3.03m for Canucks, 1.09m for Panthers.

Are we certain he isn't really hanging them up because of injuries and will just be put on LTIR for the rest of the contract? Players often talk of "retirement" when it's not really done that way?
