I'm half way through Allen Carrs "Easyway to Quit Smoking" book. As sson as I'm finished I'm going to quit. Really good book by the way. I'm getting exicted about being a non-smoker instead of dreading the fact that I won't be smoking anymore. thanks to whoever mentioned the book in this thread early on.

Been another month since the last bump. I'm still going strong, hit the four month mark on Wednesday.
I figure if I can make it thru a Canuck drive to the Stanley Cup(while living in Vancouver) without a cigarette, I can make it thru anything.

I still tend to cheat a little on weekends when I'm drinking but other than that I'm still going strong as well.

I typically smoke when I'm drinking but I'm trying my best to stop. I have the worst hangovers after a night of beers and half a pack of smokes.

Haven't touched em since I quit. 3 guys at work have since quit as well. Coming on 4 months now I think. Been riding my bike 3 days a week to work, which is a 40 km round trip. Feels and smells awesome.

I'm at one year and 14 days. I'm thankful everyday that I did this. But that's not why I'm here today.
My husband is at 65 hours of being a non smoker. And I see him struggling. He's battling demons fiercly and he's pretty crotchety. Should I let him go it alone? Should I try to lighten the mood around here?
When I quit, he just stood back and watched from the sidelines. I had support from my sister and my girls (thank you!) but everyone else around me was/is a smoker. I'm really unsure of the best way for me to support him.
Anyone do anything for you guys while you were quitting that was particularily helpful?

Offer him "adult fun" beyond whatever is normal for you guys when he reaches certain milestones (one week, two weeks, one month, etc.). I can't imagine a better motivator for a guy.

If I had known this I would of tried to stop my friend from giving you one, haha.

I miss smoking. I've had more than I should recently. Still only on the weekends when I'm having a drink but not something I'd like to make a habit.

I joined this party late, but I'm now at 65 days. Cravings essentially stopped after the first week or so. I haven't really thought about it since.
Cold turkey is definitely the way to go!

It would be interesting to know how many people were inspired to quit because of this thread.

Hah, yeah! Where were you on that one? Obviously my will power takes a back seat when I'm drinking. Doesn't help that I was definitely way too drunk for my own good.

Even though I have the odd smoke when I drink or on the weekend I don't get cravings anymore really. Watching people smoke on TV isn't a big deal.
Something about alcohol in my system though that I just can't shake. I'm fine Sun-Thurs but as soon as I have a few drinks I'd do anything for a smoke.

If there was ever a time I was gonna break, it was Saturday. The day started off good when Portugal beat Norway. But then on my way to work, I got a speeding ticket, and it was even worse because I never take that street to work, but because of my brother(long story), I did. Then when I get to work, the internet was down. Nothing worse than doing my job with no internet. Then the Canucks won. Then I had to deal with Canuck fans for an hour and a half. Then I got into an argument at work, and I was just in the worst mood possible. On my drive home, all I could think about was how good a cigarette be. I should stop, I should stop.
I'm happy that I decided against and got drunk instead. Luckily, I was too drunk to drive to the store and too lazy to walk to get any smokes.
This entire Canuck run has been brutal on me, but I'm getting thru it.
