To sum up

-We were mostly outplayed
-Down 1-0 in extra time

-played more minutes than extra time

-Forge goaltender takes down Cavalry player, gets red card

-Free penalty kick, can't use their keeper, have to put player in net

- Cavalry scores, game ends

- Players go to shake hands, suddenly all hell breaks loose

- Couple players with shirts off, soft punches, lots of pushing and shoving

-Appears to end, then players go back at it on field, coaches and officials trying desperately to break it up

- Finally they go off with crowd beyond pissed off, players still screaming as they go off

And what was the context? This was the first leg of the Canadian championship (or whatever that’s called)? Or just a league game?

Yep, first leg of the 2nd round. 2nd match is next Tuesday

Damn if only I didn’t live in the absolute furthest place in the city from spruce meadows. Weekday games would be a killer.

Next Tuesday is must-watch soccer. I'm buying my ticket immediately and going to try and convince all my friends to come down to the game too

After the final whistle, there also was a heated skirmish. The next game between Cavalry and Forge is on the 11th (I think) at Spruce Meadows.

Will CSA review? I thought recent FIFA rule change, in that Red card AND Penalty cannot occur at same time, unless grossly violent.

Great finish, can't wait for next week.

Kind of pissed at OneSoccer. The schedule said the game would be replayed at 8. Fire up the stream at 8:05 after putting kids to bed only to have the score spoiled. I don't think the replay started til about 8:40.

Pretty much. We know the odds, that it's unlikely that Roberts saves the penalty, but its a reasonable complaint from Forge.

A lot of salt coming out of Hamilton after the penalty last night. But just remember,

- Forge is going to CONCACAF League, a tournament which 4 CPL clubs didn't get the opportunity to qualify for, including the best CPL club.
- Forge got a first round bye in the tournament due to their date of birth
- Everyone at CPL still thinks Forge will win the league

In summary, I look forward to knocking out the CPL darlings next Tuesday.
