Donovan had the biggest positive impact on this team over any other player. Stats and such thrown out the window when it comes to heart and how valuable he was to his team.
Stillman never carried the Flames and didn't really make a huge impact on the team.

I liked Donovan too but that is a little overrating on your part. He had heart but his impact was pretty minimal especially considering he was here for all of 2 seasons and a handful of other games.
donavon doesn't go down in the finals, we have a cup.
I went with McGratton. I'm selecting on my gut reaction when I think of the number. For me, McGratton is most memorable as his hall way intervention will go down in all time Flames lore.

I voted Stillman because when I think of #16 in a Flames uniform, I think of Stillman. I do though remember Chouinard's name constantly being mentioned on radio play by play when I was a kid. I'm sure he's a better choice in hindsight but my vote is already in.
That game was downright embarrassing, especially what Berube did at the end. Berube starts all that crap by running the goalie for no reason, and then ends it by jumping a much smaller Jeff Friesen who wisely turtles. The fights directly following Vernon being run should have settled it for the night, but no, friggin' Greg Gilbert decides to turn everyone on the team into goons for the night. I like team toughness, but everything Berube did there was cowardly. BTW, I hate Greg Gilbert...

No. It was awesome. One of my favorite Flames memories.

Of all the great things about that game (not in the video in this thread, but it is in the full length version) was the sequence with Lowry intentionally flipping the puck over the glass simply to get the whistle...that meant Berube could get out of the box, having served his coincidental major...then Berube looking at Gilbert who gives him the nod.
Really no standout. Chouinard and Stillman seemed to be similar, above average NHL'ers, feeding Lanny, then a younger Iginla in Stillman's case.
So, went with Shean Donovan...him going down in Game 5 vs Tampa was a big blow, was pretty clutch that whole playoffs, and like I said with Simon yesterday, all those peices firing together, were inches away from the improbable Stanley Cup. The Flames didn't have the balanced 3rd line with him in the pressbox and that got others out of their element. For a team that needed everything to work out, him not there messed that up.

Berube bumping Giguere was stupid - a goon move borne of frustration. But I will despise Bryan Murray until the end of time for sending Sawyer and Lambert out to deliberately try to injure Vernon and Iginla. The one and only positive thing Gilbert ever did as Flames coach was allow that brawl to happen.

WTF, why do people think Stillman was better than Guy "gramps" Chouinard? Possibly one of the best players in the early days. Had a very long tenure in both Atlanta and then Calgary, and was one of the highest skilled guys back then, as well as consistent. His only crime was that he was part of an era that few fans here ever bothered to look at, let alone remember. Oh, BTW, he's 7th all time for points in the franchise's history.
Chouinard all the way on this one…it's not even close.
I'm sure a lot of posters simply haven't heard of him
