Are you grilling without grease traps or something?

I've never used a mat, and never had a mess under my BBQ.

Was at BBQ on the Bow on the weekend. Talked to lots of teams, got some great tips....oh and the BBQ was ok.

Couldn't believe how many teams were using drum smokers or pellet-poopers. I only spotted 1 kamodo and a small handful of offset smokers.

The champs used drum smokers for all their meats.

Maybe it's time for a drum?

Going to the Southern Smoke Festival in Houston this aft. So looking forward to it - a lot of the BBQ heavyweights are cooking here.

As I stand here BBQing chicken wings and skillet potatoes by flashlight, I am wondering: how do you light your winter BBQ sessions?

I’m thinking of getting a cheap headlamp. I have also seen those lights that mount to the handle and shine down on the grill.

Any other solutions? Self-derived or otherwise. The ambient light on my patio just isn’t enough.

I believe that there is a great song that address this problem.

Aside from a light on my patio, I have the light that attaches to the handle and shines into the BBQ. It works reasonably well.

Bought this USB chargable one last year and it works great. Used it an hour ago.

I inherited an older Vermont Castings BBQ. The inside looks a little dirty. How should I approach cleaning this thing? (I likely won't be able to clean it for a few weeks, but I'd definitely love to try and do some grilling in December).

Floodlights.
Light up your barbecue area like a baseball stadium. Your neighbors will appreciate it.

put tinfoil over the grates. Turn Grill on high. Leave for about fifteen minutes. Everything will turn to ash. Simply brush each grate, remove and sweep out remaining ash. Get the shop vac to remove final ash.

don't leave grill on too long or you can seize the valves. Just wait until the grates start turning grey.

I have had a vermont casting VCS 5 burner for 11 years. It has been so good to me.

I have a good 13 y/o Vermont Castings 4 main burner with rotisserie burner where I may need new main burners, a new igniter and one new knob (it caught fire... ). Is there still any place to get parts for these old beasts?

ebay and amazon sell parts for these still. You need to know the model number though

.

Weber Grill light. Sensor turns it on and off as you open the lid.

The embargos have been lifted on the new Weber SmokeFire pellet grills. Reviews have been positive, and look solidly ahead of the Traegers.

Price is reasonable too, with the 36" at about $1650 CAD. Not cheap but that not crazy BBQ money other (as compared to a high end Napolean or Weber gas grill anyways)

I'd love to try one but still don't see myself getting one. Just don't have the room on the deck, and certainly don't have room to store it inside in the winter. I'll stick to my WSM for the charcoal flavor too.
