I wonder if the "reverse" part will be having the horse be white instead of yellow, like the logo is white instead of red?
It would also align them with their corporate siblings, the Stamps.

Looks like every pacific division team teased their uniform today. I’m excited for Anaheim’s, it’s looking almost certain that Wild Wing is making a return on a white jersey.
The Coyotes purple Kachina jersey could be awesome too.

I think if they maintain the exact same template, the outline/background that's current white goes yellow, the black goes white, and the yellow goes either black or red and the flames/eyes are the other colour.
If they remove that background, I think you're probably right.

I read an interview right around the time of the "full retro" unveiling with the Flames director of marketing, I recall he said one of the reasons for keeping it as a 3rd jersey was simply to exercise the option for having a 3rd jersey in use, to make the process easier to come up with new thirds down the road.
I get the impression releasing a new / alternate uniform involves jumping through more hoops than we think it would be. Therefore already having a third uniform in play makes it easier to release a newer, updated one, as opposed to not having a third uniform at all, and going through the process of initially getting one.
EDIT: was also going to add about it being a nod to the late Ken King, as he was very big on the usage of the flags as shoulder patches, but I see it was mentioned already. Yeah that's all from the same interview as the part I mentioned above as well.

How is orange & blue a 1998 throwback for the Oilers? Weren't they in the navy & copper era at that point?
And Flames is clearly Blasty..why else would they have the C on the shoulders? A lot of people will be very happy methinks

Their retro year is 79, every team doesn't throwback to 98.
