I just finished The Night Manager, British adaptation of a LeCarre novel. About 3 or 4 years old now, 6 episode mini series. It was incredible. Well acted, beautifully shot. Reminds me of how much I enjoyed season 1 of True Detective.

Now catching up on S2 of Succession. That show is consistently riveting and laugh out loud hilarious. Often in the most inappropriate ways.

This may be the most under-served show on TV right now. It deserves as much attention as the heavyweights.

Watching S1 of Jack Ryan.

It’s mostly enjoyable except some of the idiotic plot devices. Sometimes I understand liberties need to be taken but the revelation in e7 was beyond stupid, even though you could see it coming a mile away. That was seriously the best they could think of? Ugh. Totally took me right out of it.

It's one of those shows where there is zero filler. You can't take your eyes off the screen.

There is currently a BBC War of the Worlds and a FOX War of the Worlds airing. Two tv remakes, same times.

One is a British production and the other is a joint US/France production, so you could say it's the War of the War of the Worlds of the World.

I'm glad "Joe Pera Talks With You" is getting a second season. He's delightful and funny.

Finished Jack Ryan S2. 8 episodes seems so short.

I liked it better than S1. But it wasn’t quite as cat and mouse. Had a better ending, even if I thought it was obvious from early on.

Still suffered from some pretty unrealistic story elements but was overlooked easily enough because it keeps moving and is entertaining.

I like Noomi Repace. Wish she was in more of it.

Spoiler!

I thought it was weak and I'm disappointed. This is a network quality show that they can get away with more violence on.

It's cheesy, the story is shallow, there are blatantly forced dramatic moments inserted which don't help the story it all. Carlton Cuse is trash.

Imagine adding Jordi Molla, Noomi Rapace and Michael Kelly, while already having Wendell Pierce and this is what you end up with. I'm really actually kind of sad about this show because I was so excited for it.

Spoiler!

If Amazon wanted some serious shows to compete with Netflix and HBO they actually have to look at the shows they're competing with. Cuse is out as showrunner, thank Christ, but they've replaced him with a guy from ####ing Prison Break. I'll check out season 3 when it comes out, but I'm no longer excited for this show to come around.

I bailed on JRS2 after 3 episodes I didn't like it at all. Boring and predictable.

It definitely felt a bit like a really short version of 24. All logical consistency goes out the window for dramatic effect.

Funny I thought about how much it felt like a network show numerous times. Well below the premium cable shows like HBO produces. Netflix is a tough comparison because they produce so much crap but it was well below their best stuff.

I’d say Homeland lite may be an apt comparison. Without Carrie’s annoying bipolar stuff. Equal amounts of ridiculousness.

Anyone watching Mayans MC on FX? It is a spin-off from Sons of Anarchy and I have really enjoyed both seasons so far. As with Sons the latest season ended on a pretty awesome cliffhanger.
